I had talked to a mod or two about creating a basic trouble shooting guide a while back. However it has been done before and it was deemed a waste of time. After I was given a few examples I tend to agree. Granted a "contest master" is a good idea. Guides? Well people write them all the time. Problem is nobody reads them and just posts "OMGWTFBBQ MY COMPUTER JUST BSOD WHAT DO?!".

It's not that no one reads them.. They see... Forum... Tech forum... Post... They don't see the one thing I get p1ssy about... the dang "search" function.. Yes, I can count a time I posted and didn't find the item when I searched... But, flop, still try... What's google popular for? SEARCHING.... As for staff... I'm too clean to hate the staff...

When you receive an infraction you get a certain number of points.
If you accumulate enough "active" points you can't post until some expire. If you are really bad we can give you enough to ban you permanently if needed.

This thread isn't about you. Keep to the topic, and for you that means not posting in this thread anymore.

Well what I think is wrong with the forum moderators is sometimes they are too hasty to jump on someone as trolling for posting legitimate posts, example:
I posted in a thread tonight that someone had posted several links to their own website from that the links were taking me to a spam referral page and I would report the post as spam. Another member commented and said they work fine for me, so I tried them again and got the same outcome, I did a screen shot and posted the page I was seeing from following the links and subsequently reported the OP. I had a lovely PM from a staff member minutes later telling me to STOP and that I was wrong and the pages I was seeing were my issue and not of the OP's and to stop "thread crapping" So I replied to the PM after seeing all the replies in the thread had been deleted without any kind of explanation and said, if you knew it was my issue why did you delete the posts? (fair question?) The response was you should have refreshed the page and you would have seen the edited posts (right before I removed them all) ![]() Again in a nice manner I kind of suggested that had I been the mod in this instance, it might have been better to post in the thread and say something like "sorry you must be mistaken because the links all seem legit here, can you try deleting your temp files and cache and see if you still have the problem" Not jump on a member who has been here for long enough to know how to behave appropriately. Also mentioned this, and still got the attitude that I am trolling and this is all my fault... Next time I think I see spam, I might just think again before opening my trolling mouth

You should be harassing those trolls not members who legitimately thought they were reporting spam. This forum is hit with spam on a regular basis and I report everything that even remotely looks like it. The last thing I want when attempting to do my part in keeping the forum spam free is some PM laced with attitude.

I've reported posts before that I thought were spam, but weren't, it happens. The misunderstanding came from new users with poor English who made a very dodgy-sounding first post.
I don't know if the spam that NdMk2o1o was reporting was actually spam, but I do know him well enough that he made those posts in good faith and is a decent, helpful member of this forum. I think thanking him for trying to do the right thing would be decent and proper.

He said the link was spam and demanded an explanation from the OP who did nothing wrong (in the thread). He then reported the thread, and then after I removed two posts ( his and one from another member saying they were legit links), he posted an image showing he has obvious redirecting issues, which I then deleted. Then after quite a few PMs, he saw I wouldn't take his side, and now here we are. Hope that helps to shed light on the fact that I was trying to be the nice guy with the initial PM stating the issue was on his end and please stop crapping in the thread.
