Hd 6950 good enough?

I had purchased a hd 6950 2 months ago. but shortly regretted it a month later seeing the performance of the gtx 670 and hd 7970. Will the hd 6950 be good enough for future games? The tech demo of crysis 3 looked pretty demanding. Thanks

Yes, but maybe not always at the highest settings.

It won't max crysis 3 if that's what you're wondering, or 2 for that matter. but for most games at 1920x1080 it won't be much of a problem, not including bf3, metro, crysis at max settings

Actually the 6950 has potential left in it, takes a skilled hand to push it though.

My unlocked 6950 2gb overclocked by about 100mhz gets quite close to 7950 speeds (not matched but close) so they are still good cards for the money and if you can do two it would get you close to 670 speeds.

But is running two at 16x/4x worth it?

I'm not knocking the 6950, I enjoyed mine. I respect what you say and I'll defend to the death your right to say it....

...but are you saying that a 6950 can run games like bf3, metro 2033, crysis 1-3 maxed at 60fps?

If yes, then I need an education class in gpus because I couldn't do it
I couldn't even max metro on my 7970 at a solid 60.

*My neck hurts

BF3 on high with no AA/AF turned down and HBAO off will do it quite well. I myself play medium with some AA/AF on and get over 70 FPS (must remember though mine is unlocked and OCed)

I take your meaning well, thanks. It looks like I was quite wrong in regards to bf3 (at those settings)! That's good to know though for future reference.

Its still a great card but yes it is showing its age

I am either going to go 6950 Xfire or sell for a 660TI

Why not play bf3 on ultra with maxed out AA/AF? On that I get 50-60 fps.

Ummm I do not see this happening. Even a GTX 570 running everything maxed as you said gets 30-40 FPS and drops to 15 during heavy battles. I played on ultra once and it felt so laggy that I couldn't even kill anyone. Some people can stand the low FPS jerky gameplay but I sure can not.
