1090t expectations?
I have a 1090t coming soon, and of course, I'm planning to push it. Trying to figure out what I want it to do. About how far can they get on stock voltage? What does it take to get to 4GHz, and what kind of cooling does it take to keep the temps down? What's the max safe temp? About where can I expect to find the 'sweet spot' where it runs reasonably fast but without a super increase in voltage?

Iirc safe temp is around 62.
http://www.overclock.net/t/900949/so...-temp-on-1090t I hit 4 ghz @1.41v on air I believe, zalman cooler but got an h60 temps went safe and low. |

Thanks for the input, know anything about the 'sweet spot'?

Honestly not really. I had my 1090t about a year ago, went 2600k last August. I just recall those numbers because I wrote them down in my little black book lol. I did have it paired with an Asus M4A89TD Pro ad it was an awesome build, super reliable and stable, but that's about it. I went from stock clock to 4.0ghz, and since it was stable and a decent OC, never pushed it higher at all. I might have some more numbers like fsb or nb but I'll have to check it tomorrow.

I'm planning to run at 250x16 to get 4GHz, or lower if the temps and voltage go really high. Maybe 250x15 for 3.8

I'm sure it'll work out well for you
![]() What kind of cooling are you going to be doing? And are you going to use it to crunch? |

Yeah, it'll be crunching. I'll have it under a Thermaltake Big Typhoon.

These cpu get hot quick , if you want a good oc you need a board with good power phases.
8+2 etc.otherwise you'll have lots of voltage fluctuations and need more volts for an already hot and power hungry cpu. 3.8 GHz is average OC. 4GHz is dependent on the phases. Typhoon should work pretty well. |

Temps mainly. I have mine on stock voltage as I can't disable turbo core on this board, and without that feature it Farks with my OC unless I let it alone. Every 10F higher max temp requires about .1 more volt to stabilize from what I have seen and read when reaching max OC potential.
Not that I can really complain. Expect around 4.1-4.2Ghz for most chips with normal volts, and 4.3-4.4 for excellent overclocks, and that is either a near perfect chip (low voltage), or high leakage (high voltage and high heat).

Hey guys, I've recently bought a 1090t aswell and would like to oc it to like 4GHz, but I can't seem to get there; pc keeps crashing. Overclocking with multiplier ain't working at all if I leave the bclk alone. At the moment I'm running it with 232x16 for a clock of 3712MHz. Voltage is at 1.475 V (voltage line control still sometimes adds an additional 0.05 Vs) and I have turbo disabled. How do I clock it higher?

62C max temp, 4ghz easy @ around 1.425v-1.45v.. Mem/NB 2800-3000 is the sweet spot for your cpu and memory... It's a C3 chip I'm assuming?

temps max out at 40C, chip revision is E0. gonna play with NB now and see where I end up. The board seems decent enough. Has 8+2 power phase and all

Thubans are nutorious for having faulty temp sensor readings, reporting temps that are much lower than actual, so don't get too frisky before verifying.

Any CPU i dont trust any temp sensor, I pull out a IR Gun for that

4GHz will take water, or some high end, noisy air. dont forget to OC the NB, as you get a lot of extra memory performance there.

I do have the Noctua NH-D14 for my cpu, and so far the heatsink doesn't seem too warm from stress testing. |

gave me good temps (24/7 while silent) with a decent performance boost over stock. i'd start there, test it (dont just use synthetic tests, game as well. my instabilities took hours for the heat to build up, so CPU only tests wouldnt accumulate the heat the GPU would put out while gaming)

Yeah, I remember cranking up the NB to 2500 and seeing some more performance coming out of my memory, even though it was only running at 1360mhz. Then when I used the same memory in my x58 system the memory performance really took off. I'm planning on running 2500nb once again with the easy to work with 250fsb, landing me at 1360mhz with my current memory that's in my x58 system (the crucial 1333). I'll just be playing with the cpu multi, trying to see what kind of cpu clocks I can get.

I don't have a 1090T, but I have 2x 1055T's crunching 24/7 @ 4Ghz. One of them I could only get it stable at v1.5 and the other one v1.45. You should be good even if you have to push it to v1.5, but I wouldn't push it past v1.5. I would start out at v1.4 and move up until it is stable.

Don't know how it works for you guys, but my hardware just wouldn't make it past 3.8ghz. Guess I'll stick with that for now.
Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated! |

Considering when that CPU is that High It Smashes the FX 41** 61**, and takes on the 81** or surpasses it easily
