Seasonic G-Series Mid-Range 80 Plus Gold Modular PSUs Released

Seasonic launched its G-Series mid-range modular PSUs in select markets over the weekend. The lineup consists of 80 Plus Gold certified semi-modular PSUs in entry thru mid-range capacities, including 360W (G-360), 450W (G-450), 550W (G-550), and 650W (G-650). The lineup is characterized by single +12V rail design, DC-DC switching, LLC resonant topology, Japanese-made conductive polymer capacitors, and 120 mm cooling fans. The PSUs typically have key connectors such as ATX, EPS, and a set of PCIe wired permanently, with other connectors offered as detachable (modular) ones. Details specific to the various models are tabled below. Priced start at US $70.

Looks nice, but priced starting at $70? I would never pay $70 for a 360W PSU. $20 more got me a fully modular Seasonic Gold 650W PSU.

It was during a sale either at Newegg or Microcenter, I can't remember.

edit: Yeah, it was Newegg. Just looked through my order history and it was $129.99, but then I had a $40-off promo code from one of their newsletters or something. If you look around enough, you can find good 650~750W PSUs in the ~$100 range fairly easily.

It's never the brand what matters but the parts inside, but there are names you can rarely go wrong with when it comes to PSUs. It's a little expensive imho, but Seasonic is one of those names in my book.

Yeah, and I bought a SeaSonic X650 Gold for $90. Before that, I had the original PC P'n'C Silencer 750W that I bought for the same price. Don't even think about trying to tell me the old PC P'n'C units weren't good. I stand by my statement that good 650~750w PSUs can be had in the $100 price range if you look for 'em.

If you value your hardware and your wallet, then you wait for sales.

There are many good psu's out there not from those companies. You can combine good with cheap actually.

But yeah too much for the 360w version. Nice to see though.

So true i am so tired of the same old corsair/seasonic bull like every other brand will instanly fry your hardware. Now for "guaranteed" cleaner power and over clocking potential i can understand but telling people who don't game or overclock to buy these brands is pretty stuck up.

I am using this with no problems at all and a lot of the users in the NE reviews have been using this unit for years with no problems. If you find a PSU at a price you are comfortable with, check for professional reviews and if does gets a good review and the components are good make your own informed decision no matter the brand.
