Is it safe to lay my 500r case sideways permanently?
My 7970 has some serious drooping because it is so heavy, and the screws that secure it in no longer work properly, they just keep spinning and spinning when you go to install a GPU on the case.
Really need a fix for this. If I can simply lay it on it's side all my problems will be fixed, not sure if I am risking any kind damage though if I do that, since there are no rubber feet grounding it. |

you could try using a paddle pop stick (wooden stick found in ice creams) to wedge the graphics card up, stick it on the far edge where its drooping down to prop it up and give it support..

Rubber feet do not provide the ground for a case.
You can buy one of these if you want some support that isn't rigged (like sticks, fishing line, etc). PowerColor Professional Graphics Interface Card Su...

The only grounding is from the psu to ur outlet, so lay it on its side with no worries.

I feel much better knowing these things, thanks a lot. I just don't like that drooping at all, until I get another case or figure out how to re-do my screws that have lost there threading for the install of the GPU.

You might get lucky and find a slightly larger screw that will grab the remaining threads.
These do not need to be tight at all. Just a little |

You could always run zip ties through the screw holes. They should be able to hold on the the brackets well enough. My motto: If in doubt - Use a zip tie.
