PowerColor Pimp My Rig Contest - General Discussion

This thread serves to address any further questions you may have about the Powercolor Pimp My Rig Contest.

Here's a quick recap of what it's about:

Achieve the lowest score in 3DMark 2003 for TPU, to be our participant for round two
In round two, compete against winners from other forums
If you succeed, you will receive a PowerColor HD 7990 Devil 13 as your prize
Winners from round 1 will also receive prizes sponsored by Cooler Master, AMD and ASRock
Round 1 runs from Sep 3 to Sep 16

Going to sit this one out. I spent nearly a month fine tuning to get a valid score of 5 the last time, just to be shut out by a 1.

Although, I wonder how many people would get lower than that. I'll have to think about it.

W1zzard are we allowed to cripple our hardware (underclock, disable cpu cores) or run stress programs in backgound? Or only all default settings benchmark?

im thinking abouth just running 3d mark 03 while running a ray-tracing programm in the background

The point is; it is not a matter of how poor the hardware is, it is how one is able to load the system to the point that 3DM is only able to use minimal system resources, thereby achieving a low score.

I would participate, but my schedule does not allow me to dedicate enough time.
