It's a Nintendo console, were you honestly expecting something state of the art in the graphics department?
At the end of the day most of the people who buy a Nintendo console do so for the exclusive games anyway so it's of little loss. If you are concerned about the graphics chips the consoles are using just take this as the absolute minimum the other consoles will have, and realistically expect them to have ones 2-3 times as fast. ![]() I'll probably still buy it, the 3ds games can look amazing, I want to see what Nintendo can do with this.

![]() I heard about the blu-ray, apparently it's a faster read speed then the ps3, which should be nice presuming it doesn't gain the Xbox problem of having a really loud disc drive because of a high spin speed. I was surprised about the OS having 1gb out of the 2gb ram to itself, but in my opinion i think some of it'll end up as a disc cache to speed up the level loading and some other things

i find it annoying that the optical drive is based of Blu Ray tech, yet unable to play Blu rays or DVDS for movie playback.

So it's a HD 5570/5670 with GDDR5 @ ~1170MHz. At least, it uses DX11. I hope they install enough RAM in it, since it's going to be shared too.

Well this is a nice jump if true, anyway I will buy the console only because of Zelda, just like I did with the Wii so I don't care if graphics will be subpar.
And let's be honest, Nintendo games are praised because of their gameplay not for the saucy graphics

![]() People buys consoles because they just need to turn on the machine and it plays, or use it as a blu-ray player in the case of the PS3.

2GB, 1GB of "game memory" and 1GB of "system memory". I assume "game memory" is VRAM.

The Xbox 360 GPU was based on an existing design (R500) but with added features. More likely than not, it's the same with the Wii U.

umm F That group, i still refuse to buy a console just to play EA NHL series. 09 is too old to play on pc and until they (if) come back to pc, i refuse to spend $300 + for 1 game franchise.

Consoles, by nature, have to be in development for years. They have to develop an OS, balance pricing features, and thus are stuck with technology that was "new" when the cycle began. All of this makes sense.
I buy a console I expect: 1) Instant gaming 2) 0 technical issues 3) Uniform graphics 4) Ability to play games with only a disc, and no installations I buy a PC expecting: 1) The best graphics 2) The most accurate input 3) Installation issues 4) Patches. Lots if it's a Bethesda title... The problem is that MS, Sony, and Nintendo are all moving towards the negatives of PC gaming, without getting better. PSN and Live are painfully backwards. Online codes put up a wall between me and my games. The installation of a game on my hard drive might speed things up, but there are still painfully long loading time. Nintendo announcing that they are finally moving to game discs larger than a fly's nut is nice. Having a graphics card that can actually drive a 1920x1080 monitor is nice. The problem is that nice won't cut it. Nintendo needs to step up and either integrate itself better into the media center role, or function like an old school console (and just work). MS and Sony both understand that 1080p is a minimum graphical requirement, but they are still working on the experience. For the time being, the trade-offs for PC gaming are better than that of consoles. Less unique AAA titles, but I'll take less exclusive games as long as they actually work.

ZombiU and Assassin's Creed III are supposed to run 1920x1080 @ 60 FPS on the Wii U. I don't know why games are looking bad..
another cool thing is the ROM speed is 22mb/s (PS3 is 9mb/s) so you don't have to install games. |
