Best HDD for no more than 110 dollars

If the hdd has 500 gb or more is fine, is for gaming btw.

Thanks for reading my thread.

WDs are too noisy for no performance gain, not to mention half capacity.

The seagate has better speed, but has a crap warranty. For now, I guess all the stock are still 1year warranty and haven't been updated to 2 years.. The newer drive that has been produce will be 2 years.

I have plenty of WD drives that make little to no noise. Seagates are nice and so are WD. I prefer the warranty of 5 wears for my spinning media.

IMHO both are quiet. I prefer the WD warranty. Provided you can order from newegg I would snag that WD deal. For an extra $50 you can get a 2TB, but for $90 a 1TB is awesome.

::EDIT:: If a drive is making a lot of noise that could be an issue to use the warranty.

Western Digital Red WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB...

Now before you say "It's a WD Red, that's for NAS!" A hard drive is a hard drive. A Red has all the feature you would ever need for a reliable drive or to run in RAID. It's also a single platter drive, so the density of the data is higher which gives you better read and write speeds for any given speed. Last but not least, it's got a modest 3 year warranty. The warranty is a little less, but you spend a little less for a drive that is just as good as a WD black. Plus, you get TLER if you ever decide to do RAID.

Since I just know that WD hdd are more reliable over seagate according to many users I ve seen surfing on the internet (about 70%) , either because of the warranty or because they just dont like seagate hdds.

Which one is the best WD hdd?

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 R...
Western Digital Red WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB...

What are the advantages of the red one over the black one and the advantages of the black one over the red one?

Or maybe someone could suggest a good caviar blue since blues are not as noisy as the blacks and run cooler.

What I think about WD warranty.
Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

I love that movie lol

Really WD is fine. There all pretty close now a days. Just buy what on sale

The OP to whom you are writing probably has not seen that movie.

I might be assuming too much, but it's not really a local issue you've walked into.

To the OP,

The reason why people buy blacks are for performance. Blues are fine as well, but when it comes to access time you want Reds or Blacks. The Red is a great cross between reliability and functionality. Provided it fits into your price range the drives suggested would be fine, but it's entirely up to you because there is no "best" drive just a lot of good options for your price range.

How old? The last quiet WD aside from greens was their 640 drives. My blue and black sata6 1 tbs were as bad as a raptor. Beyond acceptable imo.

My WD Caviar black 500gb was silent, however my 640gb is definitely audible. I ended up keeping the 640gb though because it is faster.

My Seagate drives are louder than my WDs.

Plus we have had a lot more Seagates dying lately than WDs at the shop. Just my $0.02
