Yet another psu question!

Ok, so for my dad's b-day, coming up fairly soon, my mom, and me are going to get him a new psu and gpu, i have picked out

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102061
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102075
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102067

each one would get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186002

i don't know what psu to get him, i would like to keep this under $300 if possible.

system specs for his pc are in sig!

i thought Modular Cable wasn't good? so the xt with 256mb would be better than the pro with 512?

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=467&card2=466

xt looks nicer!!

As with all PSU's, it depends on what make you get. Makes it easier for wire management, looks a lot tidier!

I'd go with the 256MB XT if you don't have a huge monitor (can explain more if you need)

These PSU's are quite good (and modular):

I really love the Hiper PSU's. Especially the Modular ones, the way the cables are attatched to the unit looks awesome, and they are very reliable!

This Topower build Mushkin is very weak tbh. Check TG reviews. Id recommend to get this Etasis built Silverstone.

The link I posted is to all Hiper PSU's over 500w on newegg - I've got the 580-R and though the molex plugs have some qirks, I think they make a great product. And modular is the way to go!

I was recently looking into PSUs myself, and though I decided on a different model. Well haven't gotten it yet but every seems awesome about PowerPC and Cooling

http://www.pcpower.com/products/view...hp?show=S61EPS

Id say that is a nice PSU for the system. Perhaps even a little more then needed.

If you are wondering about the difference between 512 and 256:

http://www.pureoverclock.com/article33.html

For performance up to med resolutions - the XT will out-do the Pro.

For a PSU, I wouldn't even look at one that's not modular. Go Hiper!

So anything that isn't modular is what I would vote for, over something that is modular. You just need to make sure the cable are already neatly packaged.

Not sure who exactly what too offer because I was looking closer to 160$ on just a PSU.

Those are some I was looking at, but higher priced then you wanted/needed. So not sure at the moment.

thats a little to much to spend, i mean i know the psu is one of the most important things in your computer, but we can't spend more than $300 maybe a tad over but not much.

so i think the HIPER HPU and mushkin are likely candidates! but i like the HIPER HPU psu better

Ok so mushkin! i like modular psu, they make it easy for cable management, although my dad could care less about hiding wires since he has a 10yr old full tower case w/out windows!

Hardly. Same card, different makes. What you get for the extra 40$ isnt worth it in my opinion.
