nope. AMD won't make one as it will be slower than the GTX 690

Whilst I agree they wont make one (which makes the next statement irrelevant) it wont get beaten by the 690. If a 7990 was released on GHz clocks it would easily handle the 690. A few game to 690 here, a few to 7990 there.
But I have two 7970's (under water) and they still make a fair bit of heat (51/56 degrees after 1 hr heaven 3.0). My heaven scores beat the others in the benchmark thread with two 680's. And in 3D Mark11 i believe the 680's beat 7970's. So, no, it wont be slower than a 690 but it'll trade blows. Not that any other than the Powercolor one exists. I am happy to see though that crossfire works on BF3 at 2560x1440.

that smell you are sniffing is a loaf soup of diarrhea, still no solid information on a release date

okay so your calling the guy who did an accurate comparison of 680s and 7970s as well as previous generation 6900 series along with water cooling and overclocking a fanboy? granted i could be confusing him with someone else but i still dont see how his post has any relation to him being a fanboy
maybe you need to educate yourself first before throwing around accusations |

Also, void is still stating the 680 SLI beats 7970 SLI, but according to AnAndTech, when you click on GPU 2012 Benches, the 7970 SLI destroys the 680 SLI and GTX 690. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12...35.541.664.537 |

I was making an unbiased and measured response to Mtosev.
7970 crosfire at same clocks as a 680 sli is generally superior. However, specific game coding and the erratic nature of crossfire drivers means the 7990 dual solution would be occassionally vastly inferior to a dual 680 set up. FTR - I love my very new crossfire set up. I've only just got it all working right with zero core working on my second card. to AMD, makes dual gpu 24/7 very eco.

Yeah there is no reason for it to come. I am really interested to see what 8900 series offers increase wise in January. Surely it can not be that much better then my 1200 core OC on my 7970. Unless it too can massively OC beyond it's stock.

6970 to stock 7970 was 40%
7970 to 7970 ghz edition roughly 10% 7970 stock to 8970 i expect another 40-45% the GHz edition will eat into that a bit so 35-40% but if the cards manage to clock decently it should be a good jump. but thats just speculations based on previous gains |

No 7990. Not happening anymore. As far as the Nvidia vs. AMD debate happening here, drop it. They both make fine video cards and for people to try to make arguments about "which is better" or "why X sucks" is pathetic. If I read the word fanboy anymore I'm going to lose it... In a professional, moderator like way of course.

I apologize, I should not have used the word fanboy in this discussion. I just seem to get a lot of hate for owning a 7970 here lately and it has been chipping away at me, especially since a couple days ago I was forced to lower my OC because of not core temp but VRM temp, kind of wishing I did spend my money on a 680 now, my buddy just got one and is getting 187 on the core at 57 Celsius... My apologies.

For Russia and China only As we suspected, the rumoured AMD Radeon HD 6930 will be a limited edition product

If AMD were to release a reference HD7990. It would have been out already. Quote:
Thats just one benchmark though too. In BF3 its a different story.

Powercolour was so anxious for the 7990 to come, they decided to make their own custom one. Apparently there is an AMD 7990 coming?

I'm still waiting to see a value based review that pits two decent 660 Ti 3GBs vs the Devil 13, or two 670 4GBs. My guess is one would come close and the other would smoke it, and both for less money.

if 2 660ti's can beat a hd7990 theres something wrong going on, I don't think its possible if both are maxed

I wasn't suggesting they could beat it, I'm saying they would come close enough for most people's needs, and at a lot lower price. I wouldn't doubt two 670 4GBs could beat it though.

The GPU codenamed New Zealand stopped in it's tracks even before it was released
.Wonder how much money was put into development of the GPU before AMD found out it was pointless to release it. |
