I am going (my second year) and would be happy to take pictures for the site and maybe provide some coverage.

CES is the same place every year (Las Vegas Convention Center), and if you haven't gotten your tickets already, your likely not going to get in, also it's not open to the public, you have to be in the tech industry in some shape or form.

Also, I am an IT Analyst, have been for 7 years. That probably qualifies me.

There are some people at my work who went last year, but I haven't been told of any plans to do so this year.

Unless I were there for some reason, I don't think that I would have any fun there. I used to work for the IT department at a Casino. There is no winning long term, and I was never a gambler in the first place.

Well I've always wanted to go but actually doing so is further complicated by the fact that it's not a public convention.

Yeah, ok, though it is hard to say something like that about someone's hometown and not take it at least a little personal, especially because I really have no idea what the hell you are talking about (unless this is based on the laughable, not-reality crap you hear lately on "conservative media"? Please, man. They wouldn't really know shit about San Diego either because they don't live there first and foremost).

Regardless, we are talking about a large convention which Chicago is more than sufficiently equipped to handle and has for many years. Why just today the Mayor announced new 9 year extensions with two giant trade shows. Many are coming back now because it's a nice town with good space and hotels etc and much of that wasteful union-related crap is now in the past.

All that said, I am tired of living here but just because it's a big city. Not because it's a shitty big city. This whole state sucks though, especially fiscally.

No I was basing my opinion, on having lived there (though for a short time ( about 9 months)), as well as having had some of the worst experiences of my life there. I wasn't saying Chicago is shit, far from it, it is home to good food, and good public transit as well as many other good things, I'm just saying it's not for me.

And that I would much rather it stay in Vegas.

That said I will be doing my best to take lots of pictures and regardless of if it's on the front page or not, I will at the very least make a thread about it. I have made the offer to W1z to provide pictures and some sense of coverage from CES, so it is up to him and the rest of the staff.

So if you would like to make this happen please chime in with your 2 cents of for or against.

Last year we got there on Sunday morning and left the following Saturday. We were at TI last year, not sure yet as to where we will be staying this year.
