The thing I've learned from reading articles regarding Valve is that they bounce around crazy ideas within their offices and if it's got enough substance they go with it. So nothing with them is ever set in stone, we may see a L4D3 or we may not.

Fair enough, though I hope they release one, because both 1 & 2 made a lot of money.

There is just one problem that also followed L4D1. As soon as they release sequel, player count of old version will severely drop. And that isn't good for any game based on online play (mostly).
The same reason why Killing Floor devs are hesitating to change the platform even though they'll just have to because they are already hitting the Unreal Engine 2.x limits... but they don't want to cruble the userbase.

I LOVED L4D1 However I wasnt so keen on L4D2, in graphical terms it was more of a step backwards as things looked 'cartoony' but not to the same point as TF2.
I would have prefered to see a new Killingfloor instead (while we are on the topic of killing zombies)

months ago valve comes out with a possible game with a 3 , if they are going to make l4d 3 they are crazy, after 1 years of the release of l4d 1 they make l4d 2 and inside now you find all the campaign and characters of the first game ,now you with the first l4d what you do?
i think they have learn about this thing , l4d 2 is ok and dont need a sequel ,i prefere they make an additional pack of 5 campaign . |

I loved L4D, but L4D2 I didn't like no where near as much. L4D2 could have been so much better if they made the maps where you could play night time or day time. The new day time maps where a nice touch, but why not offer them at night as well. The engine really shows it's age on the day time maps and lost the sense of emergency... Let's hope they fix this!

Left 4 Dead 3 is suppose to be based on the new source game engine, the same one Half-Life 3 is suppose. To be built around. This is obviously speculation, but Valve sold out of L4D1 and sold even more of L4D2. This game franchise made Valve a Dump Load of $Money$. It would be careless if they were not to release a trilogy IMO.
L4D series rules in MMO in my opinion. But Half-Life 2 rules in FPS, it just sucks back your time in a positive way.

Never played L4D, never cared. But they better not do this before HL3.

im not nearly as interested in l4d3 as i would be hl3. That said like before it isnt worth getting worked up about rumors. valve employees dont even have a designated area for their desks.

I'd rather see some new IP from Valve, but whatever.
They've waited too long to release HL3. The game will never live up to the hype and people's expectations.

Sounds all fine and dandy but they are going to have to give a much better plot than "kill zombies", and explain things like how the out break happened, give the game some lore as it were, and some decent graphics as well before I give a damn.

No, the new L4D will be Gabe Newall actually dying of a heart attack before Valve ever manages to release a Ep 3 or HL3. Hence the HL series being "left for dead" while they release God knows what else. Maybe they could collaborate with Codemasters on a Showdown 2, same kinda thing. Leave your best titles sitting in ruins while you crank out other mindless crap.
And techtard, you forgot Portal 3 as part of Orange Box 2. Not that I'm a big Portal fan, just seemed typical. Last edited by Frag Maniac; Oct 3, 2012 at 02:36 AM. |

A L4D3 will be amazing with the new game engine. I heard we will have th ability to play with all 8 survivors in a regular game, but will be very hard like a nightmare mode. Now taht sounds cool. I cannot wait any longer, hurry up Valve, bring us HL3 and L4D3.
On Steam, L4D2 has millions upon millions of followers, so there is a large market for the game.

I honestly liked 2 better than 1. Part two had a strong southern atmosphere I could appreciate.
