I never put in a password for my user account and it never has asked me for one.
Maybe something to do with the dual boot setup?

NT Password Reset will remove the password from your local administrator account (or any other account). Quite easy and straight forward to use.

Randomly it asked for a password? Something is fishy.

Yes. I use Ultimate Boot CD which I carry around in my pocket on a flash drive. It includes the password manager mentioned by Pyeti above and a slew of other great problems.

There was another thread on this just yesterday yet it seemed to have been deleted...hm.

I have seen several issues like this in the past. Over time many people may not use the administrator account, sometimes for years. So when it comes to having to use it for whatever reason, they may have had one but forgot, someone else may have changed it, etc...

When I installed some intel chipset drivers on my rig (see sys specs), it immediately started prompting me for a password after the startup screen. After a few tries, I realised the default password was blank.

I still haven't been able to get rid of that dialog and it slows the whole boot process (I have to wait through the startup and THEN click OK to get to the desktop, then wait for all drivers to load).

Maybe related?
