Another old game works!

Well I was looking at my games, Found that I still haven't put in Homeworld2, Got Home world in and played it to the end, Got Home world Cat installed and played it some. But it has been hard ever since vista to play Homeworld2, It just flat out refused to play! I finally just said well go for it. I installed the game and you know what? It WORKS!!! Not only does it work but it works better than EVER! I mean wow! I haven't played this game in years, I mean I played it once and got to like level4 then I upgraded my system and OS and ever since then I have been unable to get this game to work! AND finally now it works! It looks great too and no more glitching or stop playing at all! SMOOTH! Windows 7 64 bit does it again to yet another game that I once thought was just JUNK! OMG! Ask me one more time if I am going to windows8 I fucking dare YOU! Just fantastic. Any one else finding just how fun it is to get a game that once would not run to run? I am a PC and Windows7 was my idea! YEAH I am LOVIN it!
Please tell me your stories I would love to hear them.

Well yeah it is OLD. I had the game on my XP system it worked fine, Kinda slow. But then once I went to vista and a new setup it would not play. I did manage to get it to work with the patch but man it sucked some thing awful! stuttering all the time a complete disaster! Now for some reason today I installed it and it worked with out the patch and not only that but no more stuttering or glitching! Just flawless in every way Supper fast load supper fast graphics! It is like windows 7 64 bit looked at it and said Oh yeah no problem at all!
I fought this for years and It made me angry at times to know I payed full price for this game to only get to play it ONE fucking time! Now that is all in the PAST! I plan to play this game to the end this time! Not just this game but many others as well! Next up is unreal 2004! Going to see if that one will work as well, then Wolfenstein !

My grandfather used to be a gamer in quake 3 days. He still plays quake 3. I even play with him sometimes. "They" said it would not work in vista. It did. "They" said it would not work in 7. It does.

Never had a single problem running Homeworld 1-2 (or quake3,etc) on Windows7 (besides that these old games are run a few (1-2) FPS slower compared to how they performed on XP)

The Homeworld series is a gem in the darkness. Really a shame that they gave up making HW3, nothing out there even resembling the grandeur of the series.

"The subject did not survive interrogation." always sent shivers down my spine once I got into the game.

I loved it, but if you kept giving your best after level and level in HW2, the auto-difficulty made the game nearly impossible to beat. I had to retire some of my fleet towards the end to be able to beat the game, which felt bad because I love challenge and to play other games on the hardest difficulty.

One of my favorite, Motocross Madness 2 (made by Microsoft), stopped working (constant crashing) when I upgraded to an ATI x1900 card, same with the 2xxx series card. It started working again when I installed my HD5870!

The game is so much fun, I wish they'd come out with another version

Screenie:

That's on XP 32bit. I have not tried it on Win 7 64bit.

I still play the original Unreal online occasionally under Win7 (yes there are still servers both DM and COOP). I am not an "old game buff" or what have you but I have yet to try one that won't run.

It has some really sweet mods too just got this one http://www.homeworld2complex.com/lastversion.htm Totally sweet. This is a great game indeed! I have been playing it for hours now! I wish they would make HW3 now Just think of how sweet that would be!

I managed to get some old games working too lately[one trick i know is to turn down sound quality in sound config menu], rainbow 6 from 2002, and a few others, i like the challenge too.
