Well yesterday/today i came across a guy selling some computer parts online and from what i saw it was a realy good deal for the price. Now the parts i got a 1366 socket stuff and i don't really keep up with the used intel market so i did a very quick ebay search and from what i saw yea this was a good buy, but what do you guys think?

Parts are:

CPU: i7 940 comes with original box/packaging.
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 came with ALL original packaging, cables, Sli and Tri Sli bridges, the works, looks brand new.
RAM: 6GB of Corsair DDR3 1333 XMS also with original packaging.

I got the lot for an AUSSIE $140. So maybe $110-120 USA Dollars.

It was like picking it up from a shop it was all in that good of condition.

What do you guys think? and what the hell do i do with it

Holy shit. The CPU is worth more than that alone.

IMO, you got a good deal.

1. Build yourself another system.
2. Build a system and sell it... then use profit to get what you want.
3. Sell parts for profit.
4. Build a folding rig

RAM is running cheap right now.
For the CPU and MB you could try adding, maybe, 10 to 40 to them and see what bites.

I am not an expert on the used prices, so it is just an opinion.

Umm, no! The 940's are going for around $125 to $140 USD, Gigabyte UD5 boards in retail are about $110, and the ram is pretty much spot on.

None the less, ya got yourself a smoking deal on the parts.

I did a little more looking on ebay in Australia and it seems both items (CPU/Mobo) are selling for over $200+ each, i was surprised. 'Id give you links but not allowed to give ebay links right?

I was planning on getting a 8350 since i have a new 990FX board sitting here collecting dust but now im not sure what to do.

he could have beat the chip to shit and it wont be stable anymore.. u wouldnt see any actual damage.. So until I've seen you use it without BSOD's I say meh...

Or he stole it and he needed to offload it.

Those are the only 2 reasons I can see for it being this cheap

Or he could have just needed money bad and right now. He took what he could get quick. I would test it out first before selling it just so you would have a clean conscience and know that you aren't selling something that could possibly be bad.

Thats a fair point and i agree i still have to test it to see if its all good.

But the guy was a older bloke (near 50) he lived in the rich area of the city and he said the reason was he upgraded his computer to get more FPS in battlefield 3 since he bought a new GTX680 and wasnt happy about the FPS in the game with this system so he got a new 1155 socket with a 3770K etc and he was bummed to find out his FPS didn't change, so he just wanted to get a bit of money back after his upgrade.

3 other people where looking at it as well i just had to be the first person to rock up with the cash.

Ill let you know if it works in the future ok

That 940 can be more powerful than your 1055T, the best cpu you currently have listed. I would build around it and make it your main rig.

This is something im seriously considering as your spot on there.

Only thing is i have a brand new never used 990FXA-UD3 motherboard ready to go for my next upgrade that i was planning to do in the next 4-5weeks, now im not sure what to do.

My 4870X2's are starting to get old and well die, one is already in bits to "try" to fix and the other works fine but fan is dieing, so i was planning on getting news cards also.

So many choices

Anyway i think its time to test these parts see if it works
