Make Your Move to Windows 8 with Seagate

With the consumer availability of Microsoft Windows 8 operating system, Seagate Technology plc is helping to make the move as seamless as possible for those making the upgrade. Seagate Backup Plus family of drives is the essential upgrade tool to ensure that all your important files make the move with you. All of Seagate's external storage devices are compatible with current Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, and will also work with the new Windows 8 OS.

According to Gartner's Forecast Analysis: PC OS Market, Worldwide, 2008-2015, 2011 Update, July 2011; "By the end of 2012 it is expected that 9.6 million of the installed base of personal computers will run Windows 8 and by 2013, it is predicted that 193.2 million personal computers in use will be running Windows 8."

Without a doubt the Windows 8 launch is the most exciting upgrade of the year for the PC market. But before you make the upgrade, it is critical that you perform a back up, or, to put it more succinctly, pack up all your photos, music, movies, financial records and other important documents. Sometimes things get lost in a move and a Seagate Backup Plus hard drive can be your protection plan. This award-winning external hard drive from Seagate makes the task of backup and migrating of important data and content simple. Back up doesn't need to be complicated and Seagate is making it easier than it has ever been.

Seagate Backup Plus hard drives featuring the Seagate Dashboard backup software removes the barriers to performing back up and content preservation by making it as easy as possible. With just a click of an icon, computer files are replicated onto a Backup Plus drive. Once you've performed the upgrade to Windows 8 or purchased a new computer, Backup Plus is ready to be put to work on your new system with all of your files. Additionally, after migrating your files, Seagate Backup Plus drives can also be set up using the new Windows 8 backup feature, File History.

Seagate Backup Plus Storage

Available immediately from Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers including Seagate.com, Seagate Backup Plus drives are available in capacities of 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB capacities for portable drives and 1 TB to 4 TB for Backup Plus Desktop drives.

This family of external storage is available in red, blue, silver and black for the portable 2.5-inch form factor with manufacturer's suggested retail prices by capacity: 500 GB, $109.99; 750 GB, $119.99 and 1 TB, $129.99. The Backup Plus Desktop 3.5-inch drive: 1 TB, $129.99; 2 TB, $159.99; 3 TB, $179.99 and 4 TB, $239.99 MSRP.

Who is the idiot that came up with that number? They've got to be counting the PCs sitting on store shelves and in warehouses.

There cant really be 193 million people dumb enough to buy Windows 8.

And it helps when it is so cheap to upgrade $14.99 and $39.99

I also seen some of the h8ters buy it in that other topic....

Good for Seagate for this.

Because old USB hard drives just don't work with Win8... like idiocy of "Compatible with Windows X" on speakers and LCD monitors. No shit that they are compatible, they don't even need drivers to operate...

"Haters"?
really,? So what your implying is, for any given reason, ie cant sfford it, dont need to upgrade, no point for various reason, not very impressed with having a touch gui pushed onto us, that this makes one a "hater", wow lol!!!

If you don't need it, then why upgrade?

Pretty pushy attitude.

He's probably implying the same bunch of people bitching about the same shit in EVERY single Windows 8 thread, it gets old real fast.

It also gets old having it constantly forced/pushed on people to upgrade, as if your retarded/insulted if you dont!!! etc though if you can see it like that? [not that im exactly bitching about win 8 myself, im considering it for the future truthfully cos im open to it][personally] im not a hater because i have concerns!
folks have a right to scrutinise things, think about what you may sacrifice by goin win 8, it may not be obvious now, like say-privacy concerns, among other thoughts????

Are you comfortable having ms possibly knowing your personal~private business? Who has read the terms of service with win8 * i wonder, anyone???

these q,s need to asked/looked at, before blindly rushing into win 8,

and its our right as free human beings to at least know these things.

You could be considered gullible\quite foolish to [possibly] blindly rush into selling your privacy down the river.

ms needs me more than i need them, believe me,, without these so called "haters" having a good old bloody winge, we would get walked all over all the time, if the user base complains loud enough, then changes will be made that are usually for the better, otherwise, nothing gets done, so i do take slight umbrage\affront[not personally] when they are casually labelled as haters, they are sticking up for everyone really. i guess some like to lead, others like to be led like a child, im not like that personally,[no slight to anyone just saying my thoughts, thats what open forums are for yes?]

One thing is for sure, Windows8 is getting more publicity than any other OS from M$ to date! It as if M$ has no other OS but this one, And it is the best of them all! What? Really? Windows7 did not even get half the attention as 8 is getting. And Vista was so silent that if it were not for TPU I would have never even know Vista was out! Looks to me M$ is not only proud of this OS but they are going to make YOU buy it one way or the other. What a joke! They have every vendor earnestly working on drivers and special software just for this OS, It seems as if they are going to PUSH us all to get win8 no matter what! Don't get me wrong I want it I would love it, I CAN NOT BUY IT! I have NO money! I have NOTHING! Just keep flinging it in my face M$!

It's no different than any other company doing a big promotion of a product.

It's $15 to get it now. I believe that the offer is good until the end of January.
If you can save 50 cents a day you can have it in a month.

I think this is way more than just a big promotion. This is the biggest windows OS coverage I have ever seen. From the news (Local/National) to every vendor getting in on the act. To telling us there are going to be no more Service packs for windows7. I mean it is just plain making us do the change with M$ being the bully again. Wonder just how many companies are going to jump on windows8. This tablet/touch screen OS is good and all but I just got win7 now I am looking at win8 what next win9 and 10 next year and the year after that? And My wife's son took my windows7 OEM disk with the KEY code, Little fucken thief! Oh well I will stick with what I have and LOVE it as I do.

It is such BIG news that we even have a Windows 8 CLUB HOUSE! No other OS from windows has one that I am aware of.

Windows 7 Club: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...ight=Windows+7

In my opinion Windows 95 had the biggest hype to go with it though, it's pretty much the same whenever they release a new O/S. Fact of the matter is you don't have to buy Windows 8. It is not required for anything.

Well, you are right as far as promotion dollars go, Trickson.
From what I could find Microsoft spend about 200 million promoting Windows 95 and about 350 million promoting Vista. They are looking at dumping between 1.5 and 1.8 Billion into the Windows 8 promotion.

This is a very risky proposition for them with the redesign of the UI, so they are definitely going to want to get it out there in people's faces and they can only do that by throwing tons of money into advertising.

But as Erocker stated, you don't need Win8 for anything in particular other than the stuff that works only with the new UI.

I hope is does well. There is nothing inherently bad about it, it's just different and takes some getting used to, and of course tweaking to make it do what you want, like every other Microsoft OS that has ever been released.
