And here we goooooooo.
So first is first, I'm going for the NZXT pumpkin competition, and I would appreciate your vote!!! On this note, please provide feedback as to what my final picture should look like for submission. Any additions? Should I paint it white? Should I carve some TPU/NZXT into the "door"? THANKS! My goal was to change my little HTPC into a Jack O' Lantern version. ![]() Precisely one that mimicked a NZXT Switch 810. So the design first! ![]() Fairly simple enough, now to cut n' gut. ![]() ![]() ![]() Next I made a little template out of cardboard for my ECS H67H2-I with Sandy Bridge Celeron G550. Then I dug out my motherboard tray area. ![]() I then measured up with the backplate and cut out the motherboard access. ![]() Lined up the motherboard on my cardboard cutout and tested the fit. ![]() ![]() Satisfied with the results, I went ahead and screwed it in using some long wood screws, holds extremely well! ![]() Next big cut would need to be the vent fan. Decided to use a lighted fan to help demonstrate that the rig is fully functional in its pumpkin body. ![]() ![]() Now its time for the uncritical, but makes it look very computer-y...CD-ROM DRIVE! For this I have an ASUS 24x DVD Burner that I need to actually do something with after this project, but this drove me to actually dig it out and get that going lol! ![]() ![]() ![]() The last picture was disappointing for me, I tried to make the drive slot tight so it wouldn't sag, but nonetheless that couldn't happen. So, I made a Pumpkin Drive Mount ![]() ![]() Before this mount picture was taken, I put down a protective coat of Vaseline on my pumpkin. This will help keep the moisture in the pumpkin (not rot immediately) and away from my components. ![]() ANYWHO, that was simply a test to see who actually reads these logs and doesn't just scroll through looking at the pics. I decided that mounting the PSU actually against the rear of the pumpkin would be close to impossible due to size, but luckily there is a good amount of room due to the size of this ITX board to have it rest in the pumpkin and just run the power cable out the motherboard hole. ![]() All that's left is "install" the Vertex 3. ![]() Little touch up things...instead of leaving the drive sticking out, I took shavings of pumpkin and covered the exposed areas. ![]() ![]() So thats about it. I booted it up, it runs fine. I had to pull the power button out of my HTPC and just "flash" a power-on signal to the motherboard then remove it lol. I don't plan on this being a long term installment. DAY 2: Did some additional features, including "ribbing" the top to give the grated appearance of the Switch 810, and carved out the NZXT.TM logo. I think this really helped with the overall goal. Added those additional pictures after the initial Glamour Shots. Happy Halloween!

Organics and electronics? The world's first cyborg-pumpkin! Now if only the pumpkin were still attached to the vine and still growing, and you could provide electricity to the powersupply through it.

I like the angle of shot number 5, probably my favorite, but it would be nice if you shimmed the pumpkin so the DVD drive looked more level from that perspective. Other than that I like 6 and 9.

So recommendations on the submssion? Should I use flash, should I have it/them powered on? Should I do any last minute edits/changes? Should I leave the door on, which angle looks best?
Thanks again everyone, I hope to get your votes!!

If you had any orange LED's, that would be the finishing touch.

If you could have carved out some sick design into that pumpkin you would have truly used it to its full pumpkin potential.Even have it light up with some LED fans.
Sill clever idea.

I like the perspective of A, but I like the way the NZXT logo looks on B.
