Ati 5850 problems

Ok, i have a problem whit a video card i got as a gift.

Its a OEM ati 5850, the problem is i cant get a signal if i connect the hdmi, it work ok if i use dvi to vga adapter cause my hdtv dont have dvi connection, just hdmi and vga, also gpuz dont show the information correct, here is a screenshoot:

It appear to work fine but the image quality is not the same if i dont go hdmi, im sure the cable is fine cause i can connect it to my ps3 and also to the integrated video card on my board and work just fine. also i have another hdmi cable and dont work either.

Any Suggestion?

that's odd... do you know if someone tried to flash the card's bios?

Dont know, just got it yesterday, i did a clean install, change driver but nothing, if i connect it to the hdmi i get no signal, like i dont have a cable connect it, it get in to windows normally.

How do i know is some one try to flash the bios, i live in dominican republic and got it as a gift from my father that was in canada, he buy it used there.

wow that card has done some traveling... since he bought it used there's really no telling what's happened to it. the reason I asked about the bios is b/c of what GPU-Z is showing. Someone may have tried to put a 6800 series bios on it for w/e reason, though I doubt that would work.

the card work, my concern is the gpuz and the fact that i cant use hdmi, do you think i should try to flash to a 5850 bios and see if that solved the problem, also is that hard to do cause i dont want to brick the card.

Update: also now i realize gpuz say BIOS reading not supported on this device when i click save to file.

to be honest I don't have a lot of experience with flashing the bios on a gpu. Might want to wait for someone else to reply as far as that goes...

however... here's a list of the bios files for the 5850.

If you try this, stick to the ones that say ATI. I'm guessing yours was messed with since it has the mem clock at 1200 rather than 1000, though it could be an issue with GPU-z. Maybe W1zzard can help you with it if he spots this thread.

It doesnt say anything, just put label here and s/n here. but its empty in the back.

it is a 5850 comparing it to mine. For whatever reason to me the fan looks like VisionTek but dont put a lot of stock into that.

It appears to be a reference PCB, however, that cooler is definitely not.

I swear, it looks identical to the coolers that were on my reference 4870's.

honestly id keep the card around and buy a Known Working unit or return the card and get your money back.

Ok, im going to flash it, the problem i have now is that atiflash say p/n missmatched, old pn 113-c00101tt-001, I cant find anything about that bios to really know what card i have, i read that i can forced it. Should i forced it?

Evo, If you could please take the cooler off and give us a shot of the GPU die along with the numbers off of it? That would really tell us what it is and what bios you should flash.

After looking it up, it seems to be a OEM 4870.

Ok, going to take the cooler off, also, a make a bios dump using atiflash and rbe say its hardware spec cypress xt and all the ati bios 5850 say cypress pro. il post the picture whit fan off in a couple of minutes

RBE only shows what the BIOS reads and I am thinking someone flashed it with a newer bios thinking it would "unlock" it and I am surprised it even boots.

ugh this definitely blows, but ya it appears you have a 4870/4890 there

0930 means that GPU was produced in 2009 Week 30

I just realized something next to where it says AMD on the PCB tell us what that number is
