Judges angry at Apple in UK Samsung Case

There's been ongoing threads about this on TPU but I can't find them.

However, this is a true giggler.

http://hexus.net/business/news/legal...ology-samsung/

Apple thought they were being smart with the way they placed the apology the UK judge ordered them to put on their website. Now they're being forced to apologise for not making the proper apology.

I love it when smug, fantastically wealthy multi-nationals get a bollocking from the law. Microsoft will get it soon from the EU too as well over their browser issues with W7.

The most funny part for me was this:

Quote:
Apple requested 14 days in which to make the changes to its website. This delay has been rejected by the judges who said today that “I would like to see the head of Apple make an affidavit setting out the technical difficulties which means Apple can’t put this on” to its website within 24 hours, said Judge Jacob, “This is Apple. They cannot put something on their website?”

From Apple:

Quote:
‘The extreme simplicity of the Apple design is striking. Overall it has undecorated flat surfaces with a plate of glass on the front all the way out to a very thin rim and a blank back.

Well fuck my days so does EVERY other single tablet and phone on the market, so now you must sue every mobile and tablet manufacturer, but no, you won't do that cause you only go after the ones that hurt your bottom line. I have never and will NEVER buy an Apple product.

And their so-called Nexus beating iPad mini, not so fucking cheap, starting at £269 all the way up to £400+ for a 7 inch tablet, wtf are they smoking? horrible horrible company!

This is stupid and petty.
This is not the way a judge should be dealing with multinational company lawsuits.
It's a waste of the UK taxpayers money to continue this folly.

No, folly is suing somebody who registered their trade name first:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Apple...Mexico_id36199

I wouldn't give a rats ass about Apple if it wasn't for the fact they are the biggest playground bullies in the world. And now they're starting to lose a lot of their fights.

Also, the judge was responding to an appeal by Samsung against the apology. The judge was simply following the route of the law whereby the winner of the case (Samsung) appealed against the misleading 'device clarification' statement Apple were told to use.
in the UK when somebody makes an incorrect assertion (as found in a court of law) it has to be made pubic. It's the same in UK with defamation cases or even before things get to court if a newspaper article makes a mistake it generally needs to post a public apology and amendment.

Short story is, Apple lost the case, manipulated the ordered clarification and instead caused more confusion. Samsung appealed and judge agreed. No waste of money here. Apple will pay the costs.

They do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool.

I cannot believe a judge actually called Apple's design "cool" and Samsung's design "not so cool". I thought Apple's copy editor got a little too creative at first, but a judge (article can be found here) really used those terms.

I have an iPhone, but that doesn't mean I support everything Apple does. In fact the only reason I have an iPhone is because work pays for the majority of the bill every month (but only for an iPhone,) so I was rather limited with what I could get. So my options were: Pay more for an Android based phone or pay less for an iPhone. I took the cheaper option.

I dont see what the issue is with IE being in the OS, its easy, just dont use it. I mean come on now Apple OSX/ios use Safari, both are value added features, just like the tools that have been coming with Windows since 17 years ago

Exactly, that's what I thought - but apparently there needs to be a "Browser Choice" screen when you boot windows for the first time.
