Recommend a good single card solution

Right around Christmas time I plan on selling my 2 5870's. Looking for ideas on a single card that would be as good or better than my current gpu's.
Ill go red or green. Im no fan boy lol. Just been out of the GPU scene for a while.

Wait for the 8 series from AMD. Otherwise the 7970 takes the top spot albeit probably doesn't outperform your dual 5870 by much if any.

That or a GTX680, but the 7970 is better for the price.

8XXX series cards will be an arm and half a leg. The 7970 will perform better than what he has at a better bang for the $.

He is only playing at 1080P according to his sys specs I would be doubtful of a huge difference with the 7970.

TPU has benches of both 2x 5870 and 7970 on Crysis, and @ 1920x1200 the 7970 wins by roughly 31%.

On both sides performance will be completely different. At 1080p 5870's in crossfire supporting games can match a 7970. However over that res vram becomes more of a limit than it already is.

@OP, PM me when you want to sell, I have a little brother-in-law who could use an upgrade from his FX4600 G80 workstation graphics card.
