LG Introduces the EA93 21:9 UltraWide Monitor

LG Electronics (LG) today announced the launch of its EA93 UltraWide Monitor, the world's first to boast a 21:9 aspect ratio. The 29-inch screen offers ample screen real estate, a 4-Screen Split feature and 100 percent sRGB color space expression to provide better multitasking and multimedia capabilities. Designed for maximizing productivity, the monitor employs an IPS display to produce lifelike colors, making it an impressive addition to the home, office or studio.

Multitasking Functionality for Home and Office
The UltraWide Monitor is an excellent addition to any work environment. The monitor's expansive 29-inch screen provides plenty of room for multiple documents and windows to be viewed at one time. The expansive display also allows more spreadsheet columns to be viewed at once or a two-page document to be read side-by-side.

The UltraWide Monitor is also an outstanding device for graphics professionals. The monitor enables artists to see more and do more with their time. Interesting monitor. It's time consumer-level desktop monitors caught up to the pace of tablets and notebooks. Its a shame to see 2560x1600 at 10 inches where as desktop monitors are still largely stuck at 1920x1080 (in terms of popularity).

the only one 21:9 i know was from philips but is much bigger than this and is a tv,if the price is good its a good alternative to have 3 monitor if you use it only for gaming .

1080 is just fine for a 21:9 monitor, yes, its a 29" monitor but it aint nearly as high as a 29" 16:9 monitor, Cmon...

IIRC it's about as high as a 22" 16:9 monitor. Would be nice to give it a try and see how it works out in games and on desktop, but I doubt I would keep it.

21:9 would be cool, but only if it had 1600 or more in the y. Otherwise YOU STILL CANT READ AN A4/LETTER document (Word or PDF) without scrolling. So if this was a 3792x1600 or thereabouts, then I'd be interested.

Personally I would try not to definitively judge such a product without actually using it. I suspect that I would very much like it but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I just bought another 2560x1440 monitor yesterday (my second one) so I’m no longer in the market. If it were free or cheap I would be all over it though as I suspect everyone else here would too,….whether they profess to hate it or not,……

I'd actually buy it if it was y1440. Would prefer y1600, but even 1440 would make it a winner. I'm currently on 1600x1200 (and have been for 10 years) but will not upgrade until I can get a better A4/PDF read. More y, more productivity, less scroll and zoom.

Portrait mode would be perfect for looking at my collection of longcat pics.

On a 24 incher and above, you can have 1:1 A4 even in 640x480. I don't get it. What does the resolution have to do with the size of the monitor when displaying an A4 at original size?!

Which planet is Prima.Vera on? A4 on 640x480? The typical portrait A4 page (e.g. PDF print brochure) is in 9pt, which is 70 lines (rows) to an A4 page. That means 480/70=6 pixels per character. Include whitespace between rows and you are at 4 pixels per character. Add captions and diagram notes at 7pt and that is 3 pixels per character.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. 8 bit fonts (8 pixels height on a character) are bad enough

I'm actually more surprised by the speaker specs... 2x7w rather than the usual crappy 1.5w speakers.

Should make a nice gaming monitor for fps/rpg and for watching movies with its res so close to the native theater res
