CoD: Black Ops 2 released early!

It was supposed to be released at 18:00 GMT on the 13th in the UK, but when I checked the Steam store page I saw that it's already out!

In fact, it's splashed all over the Steam front page, unsurprisingly.

I have owned them all since 2 and I don't think it was until MW2 I even touched MP(yeah bad one to actually jump into I know...) But this time I am finally putting my foot down and saying NO!...I'm not forking out another $60.

Now granted I have played thru the SP on all of them multiple times so it's not like I don't get my monies worth out of them but the madness has to stop...

In English money, it costs £39.99 or a whopping £54.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition.

As I haven't even played through my previous CoDs, I'll wait until it's on special offer before considering it.

CoD seems to be like 1080p monitors these days.

You'll be waiting a LONG time for any kinda special offer....Heck they still want $60 for Black Ops AND MW3

Yeah, one has to wait at least a year and then it eventually comes up on some Steam offer for something like 30-50% off. As I've got so many other games to play, not just CoD versions, I'm in no rush at all.

Australian steam price is $99 USD. I dont understand why steam needs to have regional pricing. In what way can they warrant a $40 price increase when the AUD is basically equal to the USD. There is no way they are paying $40 tax to get rights to sell each copy in Australia...

Indeed its a load of BS, and if you looked at the episode of good game a few months back where they interviewed them about this, the reason we have such high prices is.....wait for it..... there wasn't any, just that they can and they admitted it, what a bunch of faggots

Greedy f*cker.

I'll bet he gets his way though and the game continues to fly off the shelves.

This is a guarantee.

You all can grip all you want, but they are doing something a little different with this one, and I might give it a try.

I skipped Modern Warfare 3 altogether. Between black ops and black ops 2, it seems to be a little more fresh than Modern warfare 1, 1.2, and 1.3.

I started playing MW3 as it continues on from the last one, but had some performance issues, with the frame rate being somewhat lower than I expected it, so have put it on ice for now.

I think BO2 is going to be very good, it's just priced much too high. Let us know how you get on with it.

Just think how much it could boost Linux adoption when Steam is fully ported to it. Even if you don't like the game, that's gotta be a good thing?

I'm sure that's true of many players, but I don't think it's fair to tar everyone with the same brush. Bottom line is that anything which can potentially make Linux more popular is a good thing, so bringing the PC gaming platform to it is good and that includes games like CoD which come with it.

Well reading up on it a little more they have dropped XP/DX9 so that oughta weed out a few of the lowest common denominator

i know, i was joking. i doubt we will see activition/ea (whoever makes this damn game now) release it for linux any time soon.

the first step is for steam to bring valve games to linux and have it sell fairly well.

from there nobody can really guess what will happen. perhaps other smaller more nimble companies will join since steam is already providing the content delivery platform. coding for both dx and opengl can get expensive so dont bet on the big bloated piles of crap like EA to come to linux until it is an absolute certainty they can make money on it.
