Why are Canada prices less than US prices?

But they won't ship to the US?

Let me illustrate:
ASUS Radeon HD 7870 1.0GHZ 2GB 4.8GHZ GDDR5 CrossFireX DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E DX 11 Video Card - CANADA
ASUS Radeon HD 7870 1.0GHZ 2GB 4.8GHZ GDDR5 CrossFireX DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E DX 11 Video Card - USA

On the Egg in Canada they aren't always lower, they just seem to have alot of random deals on good hardware. I picked up a EVGA z77 FTW mobo for only $93 plus tax, yet the price on that mobo changed less than 6 hours later to $299. Most of the stuff you buy from the CAN site ships from the USA anyhow.

It's almost exactly 1:1. bounces around due to the market.

20 minutes ago it was:
1 USD = 0.9987 CAD

This minute it is:
1 USD = 1.0017 CAD

So the answer to your question is: essentially no. Not less or more.

Not at all. I just said the conversion rate is the same. The thread is about prices.

Please read before posting sarcastic remarks. Thanks.

tariffs and duties for each country is different, hence the different prices, and also a factor is the dollar. Maybe the dollar is equal now, but what matters is what the exchange rate was when the store purchased these items, not when YOU purchased them. There are many logistical reasons for different prices for different regions for the same store.

canadian price is actually 279.99 with a 50 dollar offer code that takes it down to 229.99.

the us. price is 249.99, 30$ cheaper on base price but it lacks the 50$ off code.

both have a 20$ manufacturer mail in rebate.

so the price isn't cheaper in canada. The canadian one is simply on sale.

supply and demand will explain the reason on why the U.S. one isn't.

LOL, I was just going to say CAN prices seem so good because people in the US are gullible enough to vote for Obama, and AGAIN, despite 2/3 of voters thinking Romney was better equipped to fix the economy.

It's not that CAN doesn't have their problems, they just have a lot of ones where they look the other way, even regarding mid east terrorist types. It's no coincidence that NW cops found some local super meth labs being supplied by such groups in BC, or that such types have been arrested right at the BC/Wash border just before a bombing attempt.

In short, CAN isn't hated as much as the US because they somewhat conduct themselves like the Swiss. Then CAN wonders why the US repeatedly breaks their no spy treaty with them. Personally I'd rather be hated and have a clean conscious.

Not that the US gov is perfect, but at least they TRY to do the right thing. What worries me is more and more here in Wash are getting the attitudes of Canadians. They just voted to legalize pot, which could have a lot of negative repercussions. Even a lot of my stoner friends are skeptical about whether state control of pot is a good idea.

I'm on the fence about legalising pot.

From a moral standpoint I think it should remain illegal as I'm opposed to all drugs. In the United Kingdom they briefly downgraded pot from a class B to C, but eventually put it back to class B for moral reasons.

But from a crime and health point of view legalising pot is for the best. In Amsterdam pot isnt a big deal and the locals generally don't smoke it. It has lost its appeal because its so easily available without consequence. Generally it's only the tourists whom smoke it! And because it's 100% regulated (like any other over the counter product) you know it hasn't been spiked or have ingredients which will cause you danger. Plus, all the drug dealers are out of business because you can get it in the shops thus eliminating the drug dealers and related crime.

In Amsterdam you can go days without seeing a police presence in the city. Whore houses everywhere, pubs and clubs and no fighting, no violence and no police. You might think it's irresponsible not to have cops in a party city but it shows you how well behaved their society is. So they must be doing something right.

Seems to be a lot of that lately.
Irritating, too, makes it hard to follow threads when cluttered with troll/off-topic posts.
Shame, also, as it just spreads like a virus.

Cost of living, inflation rates, business costs in the particular country/overhead, fees, taxes(local, state/provincial, federal/national) and greed profit margins allowed by the market.
