I'd rather have a 2560x1440 monitor actually. It gets too wide imo.

Well, no complains from me and I'm one of the ones that typically comments about 27" not being 1440p. Not on every thread but I've complained sometimes.

But with this one, it's a different aspect ratio and vertically it's probably like a 24" (EDIT: the vertical is actually smaller than a 16:9 24" monitor), for which 1080p is ok imo. That doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer a higher res tho, but for the price and being such an atypical aspect ratio it's ok.

So now that you've given us 2560x1080 @ 21:9 Dell, why don't you give us a nice 4:3 monitor like 2560x1920?

Pretty please?

Stop bashing 1080P already!!

Would you bash 1080P @ a 16:9 23" screen? No? good! because it has about the same hight.

2560x1600 4,096,000 pixels - current single monitor resolution king
2560x1440 3,686,400 pixels - prince
2048x1536 3,145,728 pixels - crt single monitor resolution king
2560x1080 2,764,800 pixels - this monitor
2048x1152 2,359,296 pixels - rare hybrid
1920x1200 2,304,000 pixels - 16:10 fan favorite, also a legacy crt resolution
1920x1080 2,073,600 pixels - 16:9 fan favorite, also tv favorite/brick wall/holding back market
1680x1050 1,764,000 pixels - poor mans 1080p
1280x1024 1,310,720 pixels - old crt monitor resolution, occationally found as lcd native
1440x900 1,296,000 pixels - economy lcd
1366x768 1,049,088 pixels - laptop staple, mid range tv resolution

1080p may be holding back the market, but this thing packs 700,000 more pixels and you're still complaining.

You all do realize that the majority of people with dual monitors have them in a super widescreen format don't you?

My current work pc has a resolution of 3840x1080, and that's pretty standard.

The market is full of 1440p or even 1600p monitors, I really don't understand your problem! You want those resolution on a 24 incher or smaller?! You better buy a new pair of glasses then. You will need it after using it for a couple of hours daily. As I said Windows scaling is pure crap, I know it from my 17" 1200p laptop monitor...

Also, remember, the bigger the size, the longer the viewing distance needs to be. You can't just have the same viewing distance of a 24" to a 30".

those came in and out of stock on the egg right before I had the money to nab one. so annoying finally got a better than 1080p res at a decent price and they only made a small number of them.

also I guess I could count this
NEC Display Solutions MD215MG Dark Gray 21.3" 18ms...
2560x2048 5,242,880 pixels

but for that price you could mount your whole wall with 1080p screens and run them as one giant 10' x 6', 9600x5400, 51,840,000 pixels screen on 3 x 7970's with matrox cards to handle the additional screen plugs.
