... the fuck? $179.00 original price? Is that right? I've been buying these down here at 1600 pesos (about 125USD) .
Heck, maybe I've been buying re-certs??? Shouldn't those be marked as such?None has failed so far *knocks wood* but still...

I've been in the market for 3TB drives for a while, $180 is definitely not the normal asking price for these drives. $120-130 has been the going price. But newegg always jacks the "original price" way up, even when the drives aren't on sale.

Sold out. Anyway I can't get any more drives until I get more SATA ports. Already used up all my ports. Planning to get two more with a PCIe card, one for SSD and another 3TB hdd. Then my PC will be full, no more room for anything.

On a side note, did anyone notice these drives have 2 year warranties? I thought the Barracuda series was only 1 year now. I've notices some other Seagate drives that used to have 2 years have gone back up to 3 year warranties. I wonder if Seagate has relented on their crappy warranty periods and raise them a little.

the drive is Very Slow. should have bought WD. now, it's not the drive being sold, but it is sold by the same company so I would probably go with WD if I were you. All the other drives I have are WD.

I've had many WD in the past, my experience is that WD is generally very reliable. I have also read WD horror stories, but never experienced any problems myself with WD. Seagate however not the best experience.

Well, I can't disagree there, as I've had an issue with only my Seagate hdd lol.

Picked up one of these myself. I wanted to get 2 but I guess I missed the "3 per customer" time. Will serve as great backups (hopefully).

Never noticed the limit myself before someone mentioned it. Glad you got it. I would have grabbed one if I hadn't spent all my money on other stuff, even if Seagate has a less than stalker rep.

For those needing some space fairly quickly, here is the 2tb version of the drive for $70 shipped: Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Ca... Still not a bad price for a 2tb drive.

As for your story with the external, AC adapters are cheap on both sides, I bought a WD drive with a dead adapter right out of the box. And if the adapter truly did die, take it back to the store you bought it from. And all external hard drives are slow as shit(well maybe not so much now with USB3.0), getting a WD wouldn't have changed that. You can take the slowest drive Seagate makes and slap it in an USB2.0 enclosure and it will be horribly bottlenecked by the USB interface.

However, Amazon now has the Seagate 3tb drive shown in the original post at $99.99!!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...20&ref=prid-20 Never mind, price already went up to $144.99 ![]() I am sure it will be out of stock fairly quickly due to being Cyber Monday and all LOL. Better grab one if ya need it! :-)
