There is not a 1:1 correlation between front end and back end security.
Having a hyper-secure forum on the front end does not eliminate or even mitigate the possibility of a exploit allowing the database to be exposed from a direct server attack that has nothing to do with the forums themselves.

IT security is always a trade off of security vs. usability and this is usually determine by what you perceive is your chances of being a target.
W1zz could make every user create a 32 character, strong password with non-repeating characters, a combination of upper, lower and special characters, and force password aging every 30 days. He could remove the capacity of "remember me" so that you have to memorize (or at least have it written down) to prevent the possibility that your password was taken off your machine and it still would make no difference if the attack was not in that vector.

We just updated our club website to vB 4.2.0 and it is not without problems. Given the amount of custom code that W1zz has done to this site, his work would be much more time consuming to get everything working than a simple 3.x to 4.x update.

Just like a down rep button for other forums like OCN, it would be abused way to much by clowns who think its fan to down rep/no thank people regardless if it was a good or bad post.

Kinda confusing.....
This means that all active members must change (in the future) our passwords to long/complex ones???
My previous password sucked it was only 6 characters!
Maybe this was a backdoor for the guy??
Of course I change it to a bigger (don't ask me how many characters, big brother reads anything)....

This. I'm not a fan of the thanks-button anyway, but a No thanks would be disatrous.

I would like to know who deleted by Avatar and Signature few moments ago and why?

Also why did I get an Infraction while trying to reply a Mod's question back in Mar 7, 2013?

It is a childish venture to have a THANKS and NO THANKS button. Kids stuff. Delete this juvenile feature, it is an embarrassment to an adult Forum.

Now look and listen carefully ! I use these stupid buttons because they are there, just like people climb Everest because it is there, although I feel like a 5 year old by doing it ! I promise you that my nightly sleep will not be disturbed for one second if these buttons are dumped in the garbage bin immediately.

What more do you need in terms of explanation, blood ? Having these buttons is so childish I cannot bring myself to expand upon it. They have no place in an adult world, similar to diapers, rubber ducks and counting beads. It is Kindergarten classroom stuff and a downright retrograde embarrassment.

If people wish to say thanks or no thanks, then POST it. That is what a Forum is for, not to go around hitting silly Thanks or No Thanks buttons.

LOL! id like to make a note that kids probably do read or sign up to this forum, as they do game and have computers.

myself being a big kid, come on here to learn with a lot of the other 'kids' and adults, that's what makes this site so god damn good!

and w1zzard nothing is wrong with the forum moderator staff, its peoples perceptions of the event that is probably questionable. I don't mind getting bullied haha

well i'm sure W1z will get right on it, because you DEMAND it be removed. Stop acting like you know whats best for a forum thats been around over 10 years.

If this kind of stuff bothers you so much, go find another forum to talk down to ppl on

We prefer that people use the "thanks" button as opposed to one word posts like "thanks" and "+1" as it just makes for really long threads with little useful content.
One word posts are also against the rules of the forum.

If you wish to thank (or disagree with) someone and be somewhat eloquent about it, we have no problem with that.

You can review any infractions you've received in your profile to see the "who" and "why".
If your avatar was removed it was probably reported as inappropriate. You will usually get a PM asking that you change it and if you don't change it voluntarily, it will be changed for you.

Click on your name on any post and jump to "view public profile". There is an infractions tab.
