System Specs

Two different cards on non SLI board - Problem

That's my first post here, hello all

1.My PC Specs:

CPU: Core2Quad 6600
MB: Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro (CrossFire)
MB Chipset: Intel 975X
RAM: DDR2 Patriot Extreme 4GB
GPU: 9800GT 512 + 8800GTS 640
SYS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

2. I've make SLI on CrossFire board with HyperSLI, then I've installed 301.42 Drivers + Different card modded drivers 301.42.

3. Everything works fine, but when I select SLI - Boom bluescreen. I've tried to swap cards, for 8800GTS to be the main one. Then when I select SLI, black screen appears with "_" for about 2 minutes, then all back to windows, but 8800 driver crashed. After reebot, windows stuck on boot screen.

4. Any solution? Is is even possible?

p.s. sorry for my bad english.

You can't SLI two different cards, let alone on a CF motherboard.

You are using modded drivers, its a risk you take, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. When you experience problems you will get little support.

I don't think I can help you. I can only recommend buy 1x powerful card or 2x ATI cards for CF.

It may have worked if the cards had similar specs or were from the same series. I thin the 8800 is G80 and the 9800 is G92 and they have different memory config too. I have read sli working with the patch between two cards like a 460SE and a normal 460 i think, but the performance was only twice of the weaker card at max. I think in your case a good GTX650/650TI would suffice for your needs.

I think this is something researching. I remember the 9800GT being a rebranded 8800GT with little to no differences.

Nevermind, I thought this was the 8800GT, not GTS. You will probably not have any luck here.

If you had the 8800GTS 512, you might have had more luck, as they are both G92.
