GTX650 vs. GTX560Ti
Hi
I'm looking for getting myself a new graphics card, as my old Radeon HD5670 is getting very stressed when playing games, but I don't know what i better. I have found this site: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html And according to them the GTX650 is not a lot better than my current card. But what would be better? Should I go out a get a 560Ti, which in my country costs about the double of the GTX650, or shoud I go with the a GTX650 og GTX650Ti? I have though heard that the Kepler architechture should work a lot better, also on the low end cards, than the old Fermi architechture. But what would be the best for me? I don't have the big requirements for a card, but being able to play NFS Most Wanted(2012) at medium/high settings 1080p@60Hz, as well as Modern Warfare 3 at max settings, which my old card was almost capable of, in 1080p@60Hz. My old card is still capable of playing the games, but I obviously don't get anything out of the graphical experience. I did want to buy a 660Ti, but that costs about the double of cheapest GTX650. But which one should I choose? |

I got the 650Ti and it's not a bad card.

Get a GTX 650 Ti or an HD 7850/7870. A standard GTX 650 would be enough for modern games. Also may I ask how much is your budget for a Card? You could get the Past gen GTX 560 Ti, though power consumption is higher compared to a GTX 650. Or get a HD6950
Just my two cents EDIT: And also what are your other system specs? (e.g Processor, RAM, Motherboard, PSU etc... ) Getting a High end card on a low end system might pull it back |

Get a 7850 instead its better in all aspects and have great oc potential.
gtx 650 is almost half the power of the 560Ti and the 7850 is better than the ti. Last edited by DarkOCean; Nov 29, 2012 at 07:26 AM. |

I'm currently running a Core i3 2100, GA-PA65-UD3-B3, 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 and Radeon HD5670 1GB. My budget is a max of $350, as I don't want to pay for the GTX660Ti which is pretty expensive in my country.
I have been using Radeon cards since the old Radeon 7000 64MB, and did only have a few geforce cards. I have heard a lot of good things about the nem Kepler cards from nvidia, but if I have to spend 400 bucks on getting the GTX660Ti, then I'd rather stay with my current card. So will the 650 og 650Ti give me the perfomance I need and enabling me to play the new games to come? I would really like to get past the 50-60fps when playing MW3 and Most Wanted(2012). My current card gets around 15-20fps on Most Wanted(2012) on low/medium and 20-25fps in MW3 on all max. I don't know if Most Wanted is build to run at 60fps, but a friend of mine says that it can max run at 30fps, because it's ported from the console-version(XBOX360/PS3). According to the benchmark I linked to in my first post, I shoud be able to get these results with the 560Ti, but as it costs almost twice as much as the 650Ti, I wonder if it's really worth to pay more for a last generation card to get the extra performance that the benchmark states. |

Have you considered a GTX 660 (non-Ti)?

I'd rather roll with a 7850/70 tbh, overclock on those is quite good for such a reasonable price.

Well it's only $230, pretty decent bang-for-buck. But if it were me I'd get me a HD 7850 now. Comes with games (If the promo still works, not sure) and if he wants to overclock then he could OC the card until it hits the 1GHZ mark and you'll get considerable performance gains.
Kinda wanting for OP to save some $$$ so I suggest either you go Green or Red. you could use the remaining $100 to invest in a CPU cooler (since if you play for extended hours heat could pretty much kill your system), Invest in a better processor (a good upgrade from the i3 is a 3rd Gen Core i5-3470 or at most a 3770) May I ask what power supply you have? |
