Not trying to turn this into an issue just how I feel about it.

No harm meant.

Also calling it theft would be inaccurate as nothing that is code can be "stolen" there was a court decision on that exact wording. No one loses anything, the money is still paid there is nothing legally wrong with it.

Edit: Just to clarify why that's not worth reading. You can't be stealing intellectual property that you PAY for. What you are complaining about has nothing to do with IP Theft and it seems rather silly to link something regarding theft when the whole discussion is based on what you do with keys you PURCHASED.

Trust me - I'm not sure if this is your first dealing with Ford, he's a real good guy, but he will post to infinity to harp on an argument, sometimes even when he knows he doesn't believe what he's typing. Walk away now, slowly

I'll end up walking away slowly when I get off work in 17 minutes, places to be, things to do, a Humble Bundle giveaway to determine some criteria for

I can see both Ford's and Dark's points-of-view. My take is that they have to say its for personal use. After buying a code, you can go right back and buy another, and they don't require that it's bought as a gift.

I bought one, and since I have them all, I'll do a giveaway with it, likely splitting up the keys (1 for SR3 and 1 for the rest) which you can't do if you buy as a gift. I paid for it so I'm not stealing it.

I don't think it matters. If you emailed them, they would likely say there's nothing they can do if you give it to someone else. I think I'll email them

I was done anyway. Humble Bundle, Inc., is very clear on the limtiations of each bundle both on the Steam keys area of the page and in the FAQs. If Darkleoco wants to convince himself he isn't stealing, that's his problem. Good people (Child's Play, THQ, Humble Bundle, American Red Cross, and Valve) suffer for it and that appals me.

Seems to me you are just being plain stupid sorry to have to say it but somebody does after that kind of statement and you need to be educated just a bit it seems.
1. Those groups are BENEFITTING not suffering, you are paying for content where the proceeds go to THEM.
2. You purchased the keys therefore they are yours to do with as you please if you couldn't give them away Steam would require them to be linked to your account in the same manner as there website uses.
3. Nothing is being stolen, you are paying for what you get, if you want to argue about how much people choose to pay that is an entirely different story/argument in itself.
4. What are you appalled by? The generosity some people choose to show when giving away something they purchased for free? Idk what kind of person would find a problem with purchasing something where the money goes to charity and then giving away what is purchased but it seems like a very poor human being indeed.

Edit: Based on your comment about suffering it seems you have misunderstood what you are even arguing about

Edit: Based on your comment about suffering it seems you have misunderstood what you are even arguing about
1. Valve and THQ are getting cheated because if you already own Saints Row: The Third, you are inelgible for that key. By giving the key whom's actual value is over $20 away, without THQ nor Valve's blessing, you're exploiting something HIB/Valve doesn't police because HIB does not request your Steam information. As I said previously, rampant abuse will eventually make Valve REQUIRE HIB to provide Steam credentials to grant keys so Valve can deny all key requests if the account already has the title activated.

2. You purchase a "bundle" or "unit" and only you have access to said "bundle." You are not licensed to give away any products included in a "bundle."

3. Violating the TOS is a violation of intellectual property. Intellectual property theft is a federal crime in the USA as well as a crime in most nations.

4. I'm appaled by your willingness to cheat all those that make the HIB possible. If you want the game and want to gift it to some one else, buy a second HIB and give them the HIB key. If you want to gift three, buy three HIB keys. You don't give away keys from inside a HIB; that's theft.

Yeah, I could understand GT40's argument up until that last statement- that's a bit of a reach.

Regardless, I like to keep things as legit as humanly possible and did buy the bundles I plan to giveaway as a gift:

However, the more I think about it I don't think it would be 'wrong' to split the 2 keys in the gifts and send them to different people.

Yeah, that's how you do it. If you want to give a game away in the HIB, the only legal way to do it is to give the whole HIB away.

The reason why the limitations are in place is because of an agreement between HIB, Valve, and the game publisher (in this case, THQ). All the above are only selling one "product" and that is the entire "bundle."

So if you don't buy it was a gift and yet give the whole thing (both keys) away, is that still wrong?

There are some compelling arguments for both sides here, but maybe this thread is not the best place to discuss it.

One HIB key per user. There should never be more than one user per HIB key.

For example, if you buy one HIB key, activate one Steam key and give the key for Saints Row: The Third away, it's wrong. There are two users for that HIB key instead of one.

On the other hand, if you buy two HIB keys and give one away, it is perfectly legitimate because there's only one user per HIB key.

Yes because of all things to complain about you care about splitting up the keys. Your arguments and reasoning have gotten progressively more ludicrous since your first post. You complain about purchasing these keys and giving them away to people and call that theft (fun fact it isn't). Try complaining about something that doesn't make you sound incompetent like the fact that the average price people have paid is only $5.53 if you are going to harp on about the value of a code. If you are going to argue at least make sure you don't make yourself look stupid before doing it.

It isn't wrong and that is the crux of this whole argument between myself and Ford, his reasoning has gotten worse and worse but once he accuses the organizations/companies that are benefiting from this bundle of suffering because keys are being split up he has simply gone too far.

Also when/if you end up starting a giveaway shoot me a PM as it would be easier just to contribute my Humble Bundle Gift pack to your giveaway than to set up my own.

If you don't believe me, ask the HIB staff. This is black and white, not shades of gray.

What you don't seem to understand is that the keys are different and perhaps that is what your misconception is stemming from. There is not a single HIB key for all of the games rather each game has its own individual key which can be activated by only a single user. There is no instance where there will be two users of a single key. Hopefully this clears that up for you.

I did email their support just a moment ago and am awaiting a response, as I'm interested in knowing the answer. I don't know how long their support takes to answer, but hopefully it'll be soon.

It's quick. They have a lot of volunteers.

@Darkleoco: There IS a single HIB key for ALL the games in a bundle. It follows this URL (where # are the key):
humblebundle.com/?key=##########

When you go to that page, there may be Desura and Steam keys on it. Those are NOT giftable. They are for your use ONLY.

Noticed your planning on another giveaway manofthem, but honestly with this being so cheap (as little as $1 for 6 games) do you really think a giveaway is the right idea, I mean if people aren't willing to part with that amount of cash for those games whilst knowing all their hard earned dollar(s) go to either charity or the publishers of the games then do they really deserve the games in the first place?

The problem is that they ARE giftable, nothing is stopping you from giving away the keys that you legally purchased yourself. Why you want to convince yourself that there is some illegal activity involved is beyond me but it is simply not the case.

In the interest of not continuing this debate however I think it should be left up to whatever manofthem's email response is, providing that it is a competent response to his problem and not something automated that fails to answer his question.

I would imagine that the abuse they really want to prevent revolves around people buying the bundle in large amounts then selling the keys for profit after the sale is no longer available.

I just don't think they would have an issue with someone wanting to donate to the cause and at the same time give the codes they have no intention to use to someone who maybe couldn't afford to participate. I mean thats like 2 charities in one, right

I have always loved THQ and almost all the games, particularly the CoH and warhammer titles. I own all of these games, but I'll still be throwing some money their way!
