The licensing agreement between Valve and HIB does. That's why they are explicit in saying they're for "personal use only."

No, it's theft. Stealing from Valve/THQ.

Do it legit: buy a second HIB key and give it away. Give them access to 7 games, not one. Give all parties involved the money they deserve.

I usually hang on to them for a little bit. That way, it gives everyone a chance to actually buy the game that can. Then I'll throw it into a giveaway, usually along with other stuff, and those who missed the deal get a chance. Or perhaps some really don't have the few bucks to get it, after the great sales we recently had

Either way, nothing is setup or is in stone yet. We first need sole sort of consensus from HB

I agree with this sentiment. I've purchased 10 sets of keys for $6 ea. That seems low to me but I wanted to also do a give-away for my stream.

It is not theft in any way your ignorance is simply astounding. You pay for the keys you receive the keys. What you do with them is your choice until they reference something legally telling you that you are not allowed to which HAS NOT happened.

All parties involved do get all of the money they deserve regardless of if you give away keys or not that is the beauty of the Humble Bundle. They allow you to pay anything and get the content and choose who gets your money. When keys are paid for the money they deserve is given. It is as simple as that, there is no way you can twist a purchase into something unlawful.

This far down the line, most of those games have been out for quite some time, with the exceptions of SR3 and red faction armageddon, so all the money THQ could have made of a substantial amount, has been made. Whatever money they get from this, is merely adding to the cake, it doesnt cost them anything to sell a few extra keys that literally costs them nothing to produce. Regardless of what you do with your keys, the charity and publishers etc involved will always be more than happy with your custom.

Look up the defintion of personal:
of, pertaining to, or coming as from a particular person; individual; private

That means no sharing, no giving, no anything; just you.

No, it means for use by one person.

I will not be using the keys, I will be giving them away. Use of the keys would be USING them to download, install, and play the game.

Is that so hard to understand, really?

I don't believe anyone is suffering. He is paying for the keys, each key is only being used once. How is anyone suffering?

And what is the difference in checking one box and letting them know you are giving the key away as a gift vs. just buying the key and giving it away? There really is no difference there, and there is no abuse.

The only person that suffers is the person he is giving the key away to, since the bundle won't be linked to their Humblebundle account. But I hardly think most would care.

Giving game keys away is strictly prohibited.

The "this is a gift" box is for their record keeping more than anything. Again, the point is: one HIB key per user. If there's more than one user using a single HIB key, there's abuse.

No where does it say he isn't entitled to the keys for games he already owns, it just says he won't be given gift copies for games he already owns.

The reason for this is so that if you own one or two of the games in the bundle, you can't give those one or two games away.

However, he's purchasing multiple bundles.

What is the difference if he checks the gift box, or just takes the keys and gives them away? Gift purchases don't cost extra, the developers aren't getting extra money just because you checked that box. So what is the difference?

Ok... so the way humble bundles work. They give you a direct download to DRM-free software which is licensed to you. As a courtesy for people who use steam they provide a single steam key in order to give you the most for what you paid for... which is a direct download of DRM-free software which is licensed to you. End of story.

tl;dr? Keys are a gift from steam(Valve) to the user who owns the DDL link provided by humble bundle for personal use and not distribution.

Provided the minimum does not increase from when you put in your money, yes. They have great support staff. e-mail them if something goes wrong.

Grr, just READ IT:

Unfortunately, if you already have a game in the bundle you will not be able to gift the extra games to a friend.

Please consider your bundle a "unit", and not to share copies of the games or Steam keys from it.

If you'd like to give a copy of the games away, we have a system in place that allows you to buy a gift key from www.humblebundle.com so your friends can have access to direct downloads as well as any Steam or other keys we have included.
They are EXPLICIT everywhere they talk about it. Everything you see on your HIB key page is for YOU ONLY. You are not to share, gift, give away, or anything else. They are for you and you only. This is BLACK & WHITE, not shades of gray. Either you own the page or you do not. The Steam game keys are an extension of that page and nothing else. They are only provided by Valve as means to enjoy the benefits of Steam on top of the game you already own.

Darkleoco has given no indication of that. In fact, he said the exact opposite:

Correct, but that isn't the case, and isn't even possible here. I could see on the other HIB, where you get the direct download links for the games as well as Steam keys. But here you only get Steam keys. And since steam keys can only be activated once, it is impossible for more than one person to use each bundle.

In a normal HIB, the gift box not only allows for record keeping, but also doesn't link the HIB purchase to your HIB account. Instead, when the person you gift the HIB to clicks on the link, they create their own HIB account that the HIB is then linked to. This allows the person receiving the gift to download the DRM free copies as well as request their own Steam key. But in this case, with only giving away steam keys, there isn't much point to the gift option. Just get the steam keys yourself and give them to people. Again, because you only get one steam key per purchase of a HIB, and you can only activate each steam key once, each HIB is guaranteed to only be used by one person.

Yes, but here you don't get direct links to DRM-free versions, just Steam keys.

I get where the argument could be made on past HIB that giving the steam key away was abuse, and I agree. If you are using the DRM-free versions and give the steam key away to someone, that is abuse and wrong. However, that isn't what we are talking about here. We are talking about buying multiple 3 bundles, and giving 2 of the keys away. Each bundle is only being used by one person.

The user accounts are a very recent addition to HIB.

They will send an email with the link to your HIB key page. At that page, while you are logged in, you can "claim" the key so it will show up under your user account.

Yes, I get it, I read it. If you buy a bundle and own a few of the games, you can't give away the keys to the games you already own. We get it.

However, I'm not arguing that. I'm asking you what the difference is if he buys multiple bundles and gives away the keys to the extra bundles? So, if he pays for 3 bundles, and gives 2 of the steam keys away, what is the difference compared to him just checking the gift box? Is that the same thing, just saving the other person the hassle of creating a HIB account. You claimed the developers suffer if he buys multiple bundles and give the keys to the extra bundles away, I want to know how they suffer. You haven't answered either question.

In the quote you posted he is talking about what some people do, not what he is doing, he has specifically stated that he will be buying multiple bundles.
