CFX 6970x2 Far Cry 3 low frame rate

First off:

CCC 12.10 w/ 12.11 CAP 2

Specs:

Intel i7 950 @ 3.1Ghz
1x Gigabyte 6970 2GB Windforce ed
1x Gigabyte 6950 2GB (Flashed to 6970)
16GB Corsair vengeance 1600Mhz
Corsair 850w

FC3 Settings (Optimal)

Textures: High
Ambient lighting: Medium
Shadow: Very High
Post FX: Very High
Geometry: Very High
Vegetation: Very High
Terrain: High
Water: High
Environment: High

Resolution 1920 x 1080
V-Sync: 1
GPU Max buffered frames: 1
DX11
MSAA AA: Off
SSAO method HDAO

Average 24 FPS
low 9 FPS
Max 41

FPS whilst in main menu is 9-10-11 FPS (LOL!)

Ok, so this is getting me really mad now, I have even switched to LOW settings, yet i still get that choppy, low frame rate. I have disabled CFX to see if there was a problem there, yet still the same issue, i also set V-sync to both off and to 2 frames.

I have no idea what the problem is here, can someone please help me out!!!

drivers would be my guess, always got to remember that CFX will always have problems with performance issues in some games more than others. I'd try just 1x 6970 and see how the performance goes. My guess is that will fix your problem until AMD release a driver suite that increases performance for FC3 with CFX mode.

Have you checked if the card is actually switching to its full 3d clock setting? Because I know that I got low frames in LFS with a certain driver with my 580 and it turned out to be that the card was only in 2d clock mode.

Might want to try different drivers, there is a new 12.11 beta driver that is supposed to improve Farcry 3 performance.

Yeah I think you need to update to 12.11 Beta 11 to get the Far Cry 3 performance benefits.

Go down to where is says Latest Beta Driver

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...w_vista64.aspx

Its 12.11 Beta 11.

I didn't want to d/l this driver due to the fact that it's a beta and i've had a few bad experiences with them.

I just run MSI Afterburner in the background, then you can check the graphs after testing out your game. They will show you when the gpu spins up or down the clock.

Haha, no worries man

So was it the driver or did the game just magically work better with Afterburner in the background?

Yeah, usually comes down to drivers if your having FPS problems with intense graphic games that are brand new.
