7950 vs. GeForce GTX 660 Ti revisited
Every time I decide on a new graphics card...something like this gets posted. :/

Isn't the 660 Ti cheaper too? I guess just doing FPS comparisons is worthless now. Explains why my friend who's been on AMD/ATI since the 3870 was raving about how nice it was to finally not have micro stutter when he went with the 670.

I wish they used stock clocked cards...especially when they call it simply an HD 7950 vs GTX 660Ti review. Not everyone has overclocked cards like that available.
"In fact, the Zotac's boost frequency is one of the highest among the GTX 660 Ti cards available. Also, its 6.6 GT/s memory is 10% faster than most of its competitors" |

Wish they would have maxed O/C each card and included a few more games...like BF3, Dirt ect.
Im going to give myself another week or two to think.

I'll take an HD7950 over a 660ti or 670 any day of the week.
HD7950 should have been over clocked to at least the same boost levels that the Zotac 660 ti was reaching. |

You're all missing the point. No amount of overclocking the 7950 would fix that latency. Those are hollow frames it's putting out.

you know what i think? they found another ridiculous benchmark just like tessmark was in the 5xxx and 6xxx series with fudzilla, in that even a gts 450 was better than a 6970 wich is again ridiculous.

If you want the lowest price and the highest fps for your money, go for AMD then, but if you would rather have some quality smooth gameplay, just get an Ivy Bridge and a Kepler (and OC the rams if it's not a 256bit card).
Just my two cents tho ![]() ps.: I don't say this because of the linked review or that site, which I don't know anything about. |

It's all fine to show off high fps benchmark results but when it comes to real world gaming it does not always translate to what we see as good performance. The micro stutters, flickering/corruption. |

I was in exactly the same place as the OP just a couple of weeks ago, then I saw some reviews on the Gigabyte HD7870 OC Windforce 3x and it's overclocking potential, so in the end I thought I would save myself a few and go for it, best card I have ever owned, damn quiet even overvolted and VERY cool. I got quite lucky with mine, it did 1250mhz on stock volts, have tried benching with a slight voltage hike and got her to 1300mhz without issues, let me tell you at those speeds it is damn quick ..... I am happy!

the article (and techreport's method of testing performance on CPUs and GPUs) is not how high FPS is observed, its how those frames are delivered, those spikes normally indicate micro stutter or very minor spike in framerate.

Not even the Zotac Xtreme Edition could catch my HD7950.
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5126103 ![]() No virtual crap installed on system. Not sure why furutremark thinks I'm using it. HD7950 all the way!

lol. GTX 680 vs HD 7970 GE is fair comparison and this one is not? In fact they used custom designs, overclocked models and someone still sees conspiracy. : D

Now we have 13.2, which brings smoother gameplay and removes flickering in a lot of games, so this isn't over yet peeps.

yes and now that amd is aware of that i belive they already say'd they would fix that in new drivers to come..,so its not card that is worst or beter its just driver..they already fix latency issue in some scenarios...
