The entire country of Syria just got wiped off The Internet.

The whole country just went dark yesterday. Some are speculating that it is the government implementing an Internet kill switch, similar to what the US government has tried to give the President the power to do. Holy crap...

Man Why do they keep on fighting over what exactly? Sure it is good to revolt and want change ...but it has been over a year and they seem to have a Mexican stand off.And why is the UN countries not doing anything. It helped for Egypt and Iran (hey stop fighting or ( insert nuke country here) we drop the nuke) intervention. Is this tel-ban run country and everyone just watching them blow up themselves?

It's been for a while.

Google and Twitter announced Friday they have reactivated a voice-tweet program to allow Syrians affected by the shutdown of the Internet to get messages out.

Better believe it. The rebels have been capturing a number of military bases. They're in a position to threaten Damascus now.

I bet the US does have a kill switch like this whether or not the officially acknowledge it or not.

News sources reported that they had most of the internet back in about 48 hours.
Not sure if it was a kill switch or some kind of damage from the fighting.
