Hehe no worries and yeah its free for the weekend that is why it showed up in your list, Steam does this every week with a diffrent game.

I only started using steam this year and i am glad i did now, Got about 40 games now and all of them were so cheap due to the great offers steam have.

I too had trouble getting settings manually entered in the config file to take affect, most regrettably vsync which I had to end up using something else completely. I don't remember if fov was one that gave me trouble...
