Correct me if I'm wrong (and i dont mean to feed the trolls) but according to the freedom of information act, any person has the right to request the return and removal of their personal details from an establishment(or forum in this matter) so that they may no longer be in your possession. At least that's what i was taught in my business practice for the various acts involved. While you might not have to delete his account, you would still have to remove ALL personal information.
Not that deleting his email address F***ING MATTERS AT ALL TO ANYONE

You are correct to a certain degree, however the act covers your right to access information held on record about you and of course you are quoting a UK law which most probably has little juristdiction on the interwebz. No doubt other countries will have similar legislation however there is not necessarily any correlation between them.

I agree Kreij. On the other hand, it is a hard procedure if you have a long complex password for TPU, other one for Hotmail and so on

it's easier to get banned than to get your account closed

I don't want to get into why I want to leave. if the top men at work want to know why i'll be happy to tell them. I just want my account closed

Banned doesn't seem to really have the same meaning. There's vb plugins that allow true user self deletion apparently.

Great, we lose one of our best audiophiles.

tpu is easily one of the best tech communities around on the web. we have our share of asshats, sure, but the good contributors far outweigh the baddies. she was one of the better contributors so by her leaving that ratio has gotten worse. she will be missed.

Afaik she is pretty much one of the handful who can recommend anything audio right off the bat for all occasions, something which is insanely valuable for a forum like this where audio is ignored, to put it in a good light.
