Not even close, it didnt even had high res textures or dx10 or 11 at launch it was running in dx9 for a long time even after that .

But it was a much better game overall than Crysis and Warhead in my opinion.

The memory usage of C3 will be interesting. I can see it using >2GB with lots of FX, AA and on a larger resolution.

I dont think a game gets GOTY because it has nice graphics and makes all gpus look stupid.

Also, AMD released their 7000 series a bit too early to have 2 months of domination (no gtx600 during that time) and their drivers were obviously unoptimized. Recently they fired so many people also, I guessed all these things happening at AMD lately gave good results (cata 12.11 improvements)...

C1 optimization was a marketing move to trick customers in to buying more gpus, and building SLI rigs.

The last game to use physx is Borderlands 2, and it uses an old version of physics where for people with AMD cards you can still run physics off the CPU and get the same effects, maybe a slight performance hit but meh.

Definitely not. Crysis may have good graphics, but graphics dont reward the game of the year trophy. All we know is Crytek could be lying too. They said the same shit with Crysis 2, then it released, and it was a kick in the teeth for PC players.

Thank you and sorry, I forgot about that one; I stopped playing it because the characters keep talking and talking and talking ...
The first Batman had the best implementation of physx until the second.

The first Crysis game deserved at least a GOTY nomination, but C2 was a joke. Extremely linear and generic... If I were the game developer, i would call it "Call of Suit: Alien Warfare" hahahaha

@OnTopic

Radeon HD 7970 offers better overall performance, and performance per dollar too, while GTX 680 gives you better performance per watt, but if you plan to build a system with a high end GPU, the power consumption should not be a problem.

I would go for a HD 7970 over a GTX 680. (I did lol)

And the 7970 is cheaper for on par if not better performance.
You know nV released drivers afterwards that closed the gap??

Anyway... Get a 670. It's so close to a 680 it's sick, and both are amazing cards. AMD has a good card too, but anyone with a 670/680 would tell you how much they enjoy theirs.

The reason I didn't keep my 7970 is that it caused MASSIVE issues with my hardware. I could hear the card in my dedicated sound-card. After two replacements I bought a 680 before the 670 was released, so if anyone wants to contest that I had an issue with the AMD cards... just PM me. The top end of either series are great buys, but I chose nV because of how well it played with the rest of my toys/how good the drivers have been. Lower power for the perf is also a plus.

I got ~40 maybe more FPS in C3 alpha with single GTX680 and there was an issue with certain servers where FPS is at ~20 FPS so those numbers in the chart isn't accurate at all I wish I recorded a frag to prove it.

Hm in that case, would the i5 760 creat a bottleneck for either of the two 670 and 680?

You can't set PhysX to high unless you have an nVidia card, and it's hardly "meh" when it comes to liquid effects and the explosives/implosives in the game.
