It could be so many different watts its very hard to say, what is the dualcore like Intel Pentium, i3, Athlon x2? Also a CRT will use more watts than a LCD,
My guess maybe 100-150W. if even that.

That isn't how it works, but yeah 100-150W on avarage, so 0.15 kWh (which is the unit we're paying for here and I think that is pretty common).

Yeah. I just got a kill-a-watt and those ballpark figures are about right. My i7 870/P55 FTW rig with a 9500 GT at present (and like 5 drives) idles at about 55-65W and gets up a bit around 100 on load. My 3570K m-itx rig is around 100+ at the desktop then the GPU adds another couple hundred when gaming.

it is likely that 14" crt uses more power than a crappy pc at idle.

See sys specs... have Kill-A-Watt attached. Normal office use, about 150W, add about 45 watts for monitor, you're up to 200W, over 1 hour use, that's 0.2 Kwh
10 hour day = 2 Kwh. At .15$ /Kwh, that's about $0.30 per day. Say 22 business days per month, that's $6.60 per month

A Samsung Syncmaster 17" CRT is rated for 90w (looking right at the back label ATM). A modern LCD with cold cathodes would pull about 30-40w at most (my Acer 22" is rated for 21w in Eco mode, 30w in normal mode), a LED backlight would cut that to 20w max or so.
If it's for basic office applications (word, excel) I'd think you could get by with basic APUs, C series ( 10w) or E series (18w) Your PCs have E4600s? (dual core 2.4Ghz). Those are rated for 65w max, add about 30w for the HDD and another 50w or so for RAM, motherboard and fans. I would look into replacing CRTs first, they are the ones that consume the most.

It all depends on what the CPU is. if computer wattage for idle, if you run the cool and quiet or speedstep, you will reduce heat and energy consumption. Just as info, my 2500k, HD6950 + SSD 64gb + 2x Western Digital Black 1Tb, + DVD writer, idles at maximum 80-85w At load it is different. so I guess without your CRT, your computer might idles at less than 70w.. but the CRT will get like 80w alone and a LCD of that size would take 20-25w...

My assumption included that folks will turn off the PC at the end of the day (which some don't, but it should be encouraged)
