Png to Jpg converter

Hi,
I need a program who can convert png to jpg, but not just as an extension, but the quality too.
If a Png file weights 300kb i need to make it to 100kb after making it jpg.(approximately, but don't base on the kb)

Try Paint.NET or GIMP. Save as, then select compression/quality level until it reaches the desired size.

Besides Paint.net you can also try out Irfanview which includes a quality setting (in percentage) for all kind of formats, but also includes a batch conversion feature that can be very handy if you want to convert a lot of pictures/photos in png format to jpg format.

Depending on the image you might not get anywhere close to 1/3 the size while keeping the same quality as the original png.

Yes, but it doesn't let you adjust the jpg compression. GIMP is probably the best bet for something easy to use and fully featured for free.

+1: Yeah, depending on the image you might not squeeze that much out of it without loosing some serious quality or at very least some quality.

Yes, but I didn't say it doesn't adjust it. I said it doesn't let you adjust it.

I want a program to select like 1000 photos and convert them immediately not one by one, is this irfan view or paint.net enough to do this?

Yes, if you don't have access to Photoshop, Irfanview is probably the best option for doing this.

This link will show you how to do it:

I tried newtekie technique used in the link and it worked far better than I was expecting.
With 100% quality, the .png files, which were a total of 1.03GB, went down to 593MB in .jpg
Thanks for all replies!

OK, only CNET and the authors site have the file as an individual install. http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm - good site.

OK, tested this nice program out. It works great! Does what the thread poster is totally looking for with ease. CNET rated well too.

@jetser
It's about the images in my website's reviews.
They open ~1000% faster now, since when I converted the cropped images,
went from 388MB to 35.2MB..... love it!
