RAM upgraded from 4GB to 8GB WEI Score same

so I know that the windows experience index is NOT a reliable benhcmarking tool.
But it still does bother me.
I upgraded from 4GB to 8GB DDR3 memory and my RAM score on Windows 7 64bit remains at 5.9
I read that with a 64bit CPU and 4GB or less of RAM microsoft locks the max score for ram at 5.9 - but i upgraded to 8gb ram now - why is it still 5.9?
I get a 6.1 with only 4GB in 32bit.
I tryed deleting the score and rerunning it but no success.

Any idea?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I have Windows 7 64-bit running 8GB of RAM in my Thinkpad E430 (i7-3612QM) and my WEI score for RAM is 7.6. Maybe it's due to limitations of a slower memory controller in your system?

may be - but that wouldn't explain, why i get 6.1 with only 4GB in 32bit

I'm @ 7.3 w/ 6gb of DDR2 @ 1066. Latency and FSB may have something to do with it. My HD score was 5.9 on a single 750gb HD, went to a RAID 0 and fresh install still showed 5.9. Baffled me but not on boot

In most applications, more memory does not add any performance gains. That's why high overclockers just use 1 stick of memory when benchmarking.

So? Gaming will not give any gains with more memory unless your maxing what you have out.

after installing more ram my shared memory for the gpu also increased....more ram does increase performance most of the time --> for example on idle with 8gb vs 4gb my ram usage on idle is roughly 300MB higher because windows puts more into RAM and less into the swap file when it detecs that more than sufficient amounf of RAM is avaible.

The memory score in WEI is measuring the throughput and latency of your RAM. If you go from 4GB to 8GB but keep the same speed and timings the score won't increase.

i got a 6.1 on 32 bit and i get 110mb more reading speed in aida64 benchmark

Well adding more RAM doesn't just make the computer faster unless you add faster ram IE: Higher Mhz(somethings may run faster, but with your computer specs I don't think adding more RAM will do much). Adding more RAM will only make your computer faster if you are maxing out your current 4GB the most I have ever used while gaming is 3.5GB.

I would say the WEI is low because the proc probably doesn't have as much Bandwidth as a Desktop counterpart.

I have 4GB at 800 5-4-4-12 and get 7.1

Yeah, I would say WEI didn't change because they go by timings, Etc. 9-9-9-24 isn't bad when it comes to laptops, but the scores don't change based off of if its a laptop or desktop so they give it a low score. If you have a desktop at 1333Mhz and 9-9-9-24 that wouldn't be to good you would want something like 7-7-7-21.

On AIDA64 I get

what memory is it?? u didnt mention!! is upgrade from same manufacturer??does it have same voltage??many things can influence...
maybe memory that u upgrade have higher latency?
use cpu-z and show us pic of all ram slots..

I would suggest you provide benchmarks done by yourself to prove this.... it would be great experience for yourself.

WEI only measures performance, not capacity (same goes for HDDs/SDDs). I'm running 6GB of DDR3-1066 and have a 7.5 WEI memory score not because the RAM is overclocked but because my system has a Core i7 920 and tri-channel memory as opposed to dual.

100 MB/s is nothing for RAM that moves data at 6400+ MB/s (1.5% is too small to register on a scale of 1.0 to 7.9).

WEI only measures memory operations per second, or RAM speed. It doesn't really test for RAM capacity differences.

WEI is far too inconsistent and limited to be trusted for hardware performance anyway. I've seen guys say their SB CPUs test not much higher than my i7 950, and I'll see as much as .2 value differences (7.6-7.8) from one test to the next, and no change when OCing from 3Ghz to 4GHz.

In short, WEI is a very crappy way of testing your hardware.

For RAM benching/testing try Memtest, SiSoft Sandra, Passmark, Everest, AIDA64, etc.

He said it wasn't a performance benchmark, as in it has no real test for real world performance.

Your RAM speed in AIDA should be somewhere in the 17,000MB/s range, a 100MB/s change is about 0.5%, that is within margin of error for tests like this and definitely isn't going to show up as a change on a scale from 1-7.9.

WEI measures performance, not size. technically you are getting the same amount of performance for 8 or 4 gb.
you are only getting more space for working with.

its like a having a bigger worktable for your work. it means you can work on more stuff.

also 8GB on your netbook is overkill imho

It can actually go down if you add more. I had this happen when I had overclocked 4 Gb then added 4 more to STD adn my score decreased
