Ivy Bridge Build

Hey, so im building a IB rig and have some parts, also need some advice on other parts.

What I have so far:

Evga Z77 FTW Mobo

8GB Mushkin Blackline DDR3

1000w Corsair HX1000 (carrying over from other build, need advice on a PSU for i5 2400/6870 combo)

i5 3570 (non K, $180 on Boxing day which is too good to pass up)

HD 6870 (for now, until new gfx then it goes back into the i5 2400 rig)

Other than those things everything else is up in the air. I need a SSD, PSU (for other rig) and CPU Cooling. Gfx isnt important atm. Any advice on part that I need is appreciated, and keep in mind that i would like to spend $100 or less on each the remaining components.

PSU for the second rig, SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze, you don't need CPU cooling apart from Intel stock HSF since overclocking is limited on the non K chips. If you still want to try out the OC then I'd suggest the cheap and efficient Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

Why would you get a Z77 board (and an expensive one aswell) and not get an unlocked CPU? if your gonna get a non K just get an H77 board.

board was $93 new !! and considering a 3570K at my comp store is almost $265 and the 3570 is $205, it doesnt take much to figure out why im getting that chip (both prices are taxes inc.) I can o/c the non K version to 4ghz and that is what i was aiming for if i got a K version.

If your sure you can get 4GHZ via Bus then good luck i really hope you do,but at the same time you can easily get 4.5 on the multi unlocked.

I also can't rally afford to spend an extra $60 either. The wife and kids need Boxing Day deals too. Regardless, that board for $93 and a 3570 for $180 is a sweet combo even if i decide to not o/c. I have 5 PCI-E ports, PCI-E 3.0 (when i get a new gfx card) and a bunch of other goodies over what ANY sub $100 dollar mobo and $200 CPU can provide.

So, im looking at $243 for the 3570 + a CM Hyper 212 Evo HSF. not bad considering thats still less than a 3570K by itself

Of course the deal is OK. Don't worry, that i5 is plenty at stock for about everything. Also you are allowed to increase the multi 4 "bins" over the nominal value so you can hit 4GHz in Turbo mode easy.

Don't know about that seasonic but you don't need 750W for the other setup. CX from Corsair are OK but you can do a step better with a TX, 650 is plenty:

That is a smoking deal on the board and if he could hide some $ from the family, he could get a 3770K someday. LOL

FYI, Crucial Balklistics Sport series is cheap and I tested the modules and they were kick ass for $40 modules (8G). I don't know how much the Mushkin memory you have listed goes for.

If you want cheap cooling, the Hyper 212 EVO is a decent air cooler.

You can get 120G OCZ Vertex 3 real cheap now too.

Great Price. I will say the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8G kit benchmarked as good as $100 GSkill Tridents at slightly higher latencies. I don't know how good the Mushkin is. I benchmarked a ton of memory in the last year and I felt Crucial Ballistix Sport was the best bang for the buck but I am sure the Mushkin's are good too.

decided against gettting the CPU. Instead I went with a Sapphire HD 7870 2GB I'll start saving for a 3570K in January and get the CPU the board deserves.

1KW PSU? sell that and pick up a good Sesonic/Corsair 500w PSU much better efficiency for such a low powered rig, other than that the deal on the mobo is good and the rest of the build is solid

yes, sell the PSU powering my current rig so i have nothing to use.... its called making a 2nd computer, not making 1 computer great. The IB will get the 1000W PSU and i will buy a 600-700 watt for the other pc.
