For the record, they were Intimidation AKA-215 MKII Fake ratings also, they wouldnt do below 65hz. Don't give them any real abuse or power or they will implode under the shock of playing something.

i purchased them around a year ago after seeing them on a set up at a friends house they worked pretty well at the time, i don't really have the money to buy more for the front floor standing set if they do the job thats fine with me shouldn't be to bad. Im just not sure how what ohms they will be after bi-wiring them as the receiver only caters for 6 ohms? after these few stages and a bit more i should have a full working set up
Can i connect these speakers to another amp and then to the receiver? so it will be like connecting a active pair of speakers so the av receiver wont have much output. Last edited by simon_s; Dec 16, 2012 at 06:11 PM. |

Stop working about ohm ratings. I don't think it'll affect you. Yes you can connect another amp to the receiver, but it's pointless as receivers have a build in amp. |

Having another external amp can make a big difference depending on the setup. A big set of speakers will typically have the mid's and high's powered separately from the lows. In order to properly power the base notes on your fronts it's not uncommon to have another amplifier in order to give them the extra punch. I'm saying this because I'm concerned about people reading this thread in the future and I don't want any misinformation. Also when it comes to wattage with speakers you should be less concerned about max wattage and more concerned about sensitivity. I'm somewhat concerned with the direction this thread has gone. |

Audio Intimdation S5000
Hi Simon, i also own the Audio Intimidation s5000 speakers, and they are indeed amazing sounding speakers. They have good sensitivity at 92db. You dont need alot of power to drive them, my amp is only 25 watts, but drives the speakers with no proble9m at all. To connect them, remove the brass links. Connect a link of speaker cable to the lower plugs (which is the bass) then connect the same link to the upper plugs(which is for the high frequency), then connect your speaker cable from the amp to the lower plugs.
The Audio Intimidation are hifi speakers but not as we know it. They have an almost PA sound. They image beautifully, and the soundstage is huge. The bass is tight, and deep, but need keeping away from rear walls. For the price they really are a no brainer, and are the best of the range, and weigh in at 40Kg each ! They are huge, and suprisingly efficient for large speakers. I removed the rubber feet, and stood the speakers on granite platforms, and they sound great. I have tried other speakers, and keep coming back to my s5000, they really are superb. |

Budget can increase no problem, not really worrying about the budget right now, just the last few things are holding me back now thats all, apart from that should have the whole set up soon. |
