Watercooling VGA only
Sup guys, looking to set up some watercooling for my two XFX 7950 Double Disspations. Everything is in my specs, I have a NZXT Phantom Full case, and a H80 already in there cooling the CPU. Having some trouble finding a waterblock that will fit the slightly odd PCB for the XFX DD 7950's but i was hoping for some advice. Not looking to spend anything over £300 for two blocks, single pump, dual rad and single reservoir.
And of course, a british delivering company ![]()

I heard the 7950 DD edition cards have a messed up PCB though. on the swifttech site now, any suggestions? was easy enough to build on the XSPC site, this other site looks a lot more retarded though.

They have GPU-only blocks, the 79xx version is an option listed on the page for the GPU block. Swifftech has rads that include reservoir. You could also look at those artic cooling AIO coolers for the 79xx, but they are kinda pricey. I am by no means a watercoolnig expert, so I'll just leave my suggestions here and let someone else fill you in on other options. I will say, though, that I am pretty sure that XSPC block will not work for you.

In my opinion you should just stick with air on your 7950's,its kinda silly to buy cards with aftermarket cooler's and then water cool them, besides are those DD cooler's pretty good?

Just an FYI, I found out there are adapter mounts that will let you mount an AIO unit like the H80 to a gpu! Thats amazing considering the cost of a separate loop.
It wouldn't be a full cover solution, but good air flow or a small fan could offset that.

If the 7950's use a 7970 PCB just grab a 7970 block and move on I am failing to see the problem.

Rcoon, I would swap out the coolant to just get some Distilled water. Its all you really need. And then If you want to add some color to the loop, get colored tubing. Why such tiny 3/8" tubing? Atleast bump it up to 7/16th.

Yeah i added white tubing to fit the colour scheme within my case. Might check the distilled water prices.

Try and find an MCP355 and run a pump top res for it. Much better performance than that XSPC thing.

What is the model number of your card? Looking at manufacturer's compatibility charts they list a few XFX 7950 DD's to work with their 7950 blocks, not the 7970's.
The reference PCB'd 7950 and 7970 are almost identical, but not exactly the same. |

Just FYI, part number says it all.
795A = AMD Reference PCB 795X = XFX-designed PCB. Same goes for any XFX card. Then, for 795/797 reference PCB used, you look at the outputs..Dual DVI = 7970 PCB, single DVI = 7950 PCB. The XFX DD 7950 cooler is crap. It is not the same as the 7970 cooler, and it has been noted in many reviews on these cards that the cooler is JUNK compared to the XFX DD 7970.
