I met Les Paul at a signing at a music store in Waukesha, WI before he passed away.
Nice guy. Signed a photo for me that I gave to a guitar playing friend.

Guitars are tech too.

Fenders are great too, I play both. Today, with modern audio technology, it is not necessary to have all these different types of guitars that sound only barely slightly different, but the actual FEEL of each is definitely unique.

But when it comes to collectability, Gibson guitars garner more attention(and thereby resale value), and I am not sure why. I'll never sell any of guitars though...might trade to get better, but never sell.

So, new models on the CES show floor, might be future purchases for me. Different paint, configurations, there's more variety to Les Pauls then there is to PCs!
I kinda see my guitars a lot like computer components, I like to benchmark each one to see how it sounds and feels.

It is funny you say that, Ibanez are my favorite for low-mid range acoustic / electric. Ibanez is like the price per performance guitar, that is if you don't count the mexican strat. Made in Mexico so the cost isnt through the roof, but every bit as quality as an American.

He's used PRS and many others throughout his career. What you like...is his effects pedals

Meh, couldn't tell by the CES pics, one pic with a bunch at a distance.

And I agree, used to own a DarkFire, a self-tuning guitar. Problem with that is al lteh tech was mostly crammed into one switch that isn't truly up to daily playing. Gibson has fixed that now though ,offering Mid-E-Tune or whatever they are called guitars...that have the tuning stuff, but no problematic MCK knob.

And yeah, Les Paul is an icon to many. I bought one of his guitars from the estate auction. Don't ask what I paid.

As of late he started play some PRS guitars but the earlier to mid years of KSE was mostly cap guitars. He even mentions this on the dvd "set this world ablaze" < watched many more times than I can remember.

Quote:
Guitars
Dutkiewicz has been a longtime player of Caparison Guitars mostly using the Caparison PLM-3, a discontinued model, with EMG pickups (EMG 85 in the bridge, and two EMG SA single coils in the middle and neck positions) and DR Tite-Fit .012-.052 strings. He is quoted as saying that he likes the guitars because they have a very "strat-like neck."
In 2008 shows, he used a black Parker Fly with an EMG 81/EMG 85 set for pickups. Atop this, he used a custom Caparison, modeled after the Dellinger model. He previously used Parker guitars for their light weight so as to avoid worsening his back problems, but he has recently been seen using PRS Guitars a Custom 22 usually with Killswitch Engage and Times of Grace.
When he officially took up second guitar duties after the release of Alive or Just Breathing, he could be seen using a Fender Stratocaster, possibly modded with a stacked bridge humbucker.

I know, but it's still the effects you like, which was the main point. the fact he uses PRS or whatever else and keeps his sound pretty much the same says it all.

The effects would be the tech, I guess.

Well yes the effects are what makes his playing sound good. I had a friend in the army and he was the one that got me into KSE and he could play all their songs quite well and he could replicate most of the effects with his crane amp and PRS.

Let's keep the topic on CES.

Guitar tech is better suited for NPU than TPU.
If you have something you would like to be covered drop either me or Filip a tip and we will try to get it posted up for you over there.
Comments there are always appreciated.

I dunno, my post on the other page wasn't asking enough?

EDIT: I checked, I see nothing Gibson there.

Anyway....CES....

I think Kreij made a judgment call. Anyway I hear Bill Clinton gave a speech at CES. Started talking about gun bans. BILL CLINTON IS OFF TOPIC!

Thanks man, it's greatly appreciated!

In this CES thread.

What more can I say? I'm not the sort of person to tell you guys how to do your jobs; I leave hints.

What I got was this:

The exact opposite of what I asked for. Oh, and 1 pic of guitars from a distance, and a few with them in the background.

I don't know how to be more exact on asking for what I wanted here..

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Frederik for any of that, that was covered in my original request.

I'll add music tech to my list of stuff to hunt for on NPU, including Gibson and others.
There are only 3 of us posting regularly. It's tough to cover everything tech in the world, but I'll try.

You can tie into both with Orange's PC/AMP combo unit.

And yeah, I know there's a tonne of stuff, that's why I didn't expect much, really.

but with Gibson pouring so much real tech into current models, the gap is getting smaller.
