Looking to replace my graphics card
My old card is slowly dying, Gigabyte 560ti OC edition and i`m looking for a good replacement. I`m willing to spend from around 300-400€. There is so much to choose out there, that i`m having a hard time doing it myself, so i am asking for help. Most of the time i˙m generally gaming, a little 3d modeling on the side sometimes. I have a phenom x4 955 processor, don`t wonna bottleneck things, so cards like GTX 680 or Radeon 7970 are probably out of the question right, would loose too much performance ? And i`m not in any camps, so could go with either Ati or Nvidia.

Nothing gets loose on the GPU's (ok the heatsink maybe?
), but you could lose performance. ![]() All grammar jokes aside, What resolution do you game at? Assuming 1920x1080 or greater, just grab a 7950 3GB and call it a day. |

Yeah i am gaming at 1920x1080, correct. You say i should go with ATI, why not Nvidia ?
So something like this should be good: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N660T...=Specification Nvidia, or http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7950...r-3GD5-OC.html ATI |

AMD has the best performance for your dollar, for the most part, at this time. Look up benchmark numbers and watch the 660 get beat, again for the most part, by a 7950.

The 7970 is still the best deal of those cards. Got my Sapphire OC for only $330 USD. I would imagine in Europe there's similar deals going from time to time.

I was just checking prices and saw the 660 Ti was about $20 cheaper, enough to consider it?
There's also a PNY card for $250 with a $30 rebate at Fry's, but I'm not sure why it's so low in price. |

If you don't run any programs for number crunching like Bionic, with it being $20 less, I'd choose the GTX 660ti over the HD7950. If you do plan on running number crunching software, even for $20 more, the 7950 is a much better card.
Don't worry too much about bottlenecking your new video card as it is a part you can potentially use in your next build. Buy the best video card you can afford.

Driver issues? Have not had any...... none..... not a smidgeon....... not for a few releases...... maybe I am lucky? Now I had a 560Ti up until 2 months ago and it was a great card but the last couple of driver releases were causing in game crashes.... happens to the best of them on occasions.

Because most 7950 can be OCed to match a 7970GHZ.

and if you are concerned about money there is the 7870 myst edition (1536Sp) wich is cheaper than 660ti while having the same amount of ram 2gb and matching performance. PowerColor PCS+ AX7870 2GBD5-2DHPPV3E Radeon HD 78... but i would still get the 7950. btw barbaricSoul thats radeon with the old drivers not even the 12.11. ![]() remember always use the latest review for perf. comparison guys. Jan 15th review ![]() Unless the OP is going to be crunching numbers, I see no reason to spend the extra $20. Granted, that is not a hugh difference is price, but $20 is $20.

The $20 is from the prices the OP says he/she can get the cards for. Considering he/she said- Quote:
