until motherboards start supporting this and giving more slots for the purpose of SSD (and better placed i might add) SATA is the way to go. its easier, you get to move the SSD around and only need to hook up a cable. sata3 is just fine for modern SSD's

Time to install PCIe SSD: 15 seconds. Time to install SATA SSD: ~10 minutes. (Gotta make the cables neat and blend in with existing installation). |

SATA bottleneck is annoying, the rest is irrelevant. I don't give two nickels about cables and stuff. I don't plug in/remove drives every two seconds.

I guess it depends on what you mean by affordable. I wonder if SSDs will ever come down to .40-.50 cents per gig.

I think you might be having the Kingston 1TB USB Flash Drive (from a previous article not too long ago) in mind, but 1TB SSDs have been around for a while except that they are generally too expensive to buy and as they don't sell so often you may not see them on a lot of PC specialist websites.

Once this costs around $100 I'll upgrade to an SSD.
Till then I'll just dwell in the past.
