Ah great! I guess now I will have lower frame-times than my already record-low and stable 16-17ms (compared to techreport.com)! I still do have some rare spike to sub-100ms though (rarely).

It seems that this issue only appears on the GHz edition cards, since both my non-Ghz 7970 and my flatmate's non-Ghz 7950 have absolutely no problems.

Did you use FRAFS bench viewer to test things out? I have no issues myself, but the frametimes are bad, just not noticable.

Thanks for the head up Mac, now I won't bother with the drivers being released today.

Actually it is FRAFS, not FRAPS... Though you need FRAPS too to get the frametimes.

You can get FRAFS here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/frafsbenchview/

Microstutter isn't a term people are familiar with because AMD admitted the problem...it's the hardcore denials that had everyone in such an uproar about it. Now, here it is explained in a way that AMD finally understands, and they deal with single-GPU only, and do the fixes...WITHOUT THE MEMORY MANAGEMENT CHANGES. What a bunch of idiots. They didn't even identify the problem correctly in the first place, and clearly, are still confused as to what is going on, by their own statements.

I think you are missing the point, the improvements look Awesome, it irrelevant whether AMD has admitted anything.

So a few more weeks and we'll get the reworked memory drivers. I'm hoping this does some good for CrossFire, I wouldn't mind picking up another card as long as things are fixed. Even still... I'm skeptical.

It might make some of those games that were barely playable, more palyable at lower FPS...

Which means you might be able to turn up more eye candy and still get smooth play.

Tests show that only latency was fixed, and performance was not affected.

I don't care that AMD has admitted anything either...but these are pretty basic driver tweaks, done on a per-app basis.

To me, that means that the chance of this fixing ALL apps is near ZERO...since it's per app, as stated by AMD in that article.

If it was just the memory management, then fine, across-the-board fixes are great. But that is not the case here.

I will say the initial progress is good. I thought it would take much longer than this. All it will take to get this to cover most games is simply adding this test to the majority of review sites. Keep the pressure on. Unfortunately I can't imagine a lot of willingness on the reviewer side to make that change.

Nothing to do with this thread. Nobody care why YOU went to a different brand, this isn't about that.

Good day sir.

Good day sir.
He referred to me directly about being mad. I was responding how I wasn't. However I am glad you might get some more use out of that 500,000 dollar GPU you got. Glad to see ATI admitted their drivers are fail sauce.

if they could tweak the drivers to include this fix in the caps, then they could fix all kinds of stuff...
