I generally run 15-30 minute stress tests if things seem to be going exceptionally well, when I'm nearing the end of my tweaking I generally run a few hours (2-3) and at the end a 24+hour stress to verify stability, that's more than most people do I will admit and some will say it's outright unnecessary.

If this helps, here are my adventures overclocking a 3570k, starting at stock, and moving all the way to 4.7 Ghz:

Meh. Pretty average now with current chips, it seems.
![]() I run 1.4 V on my 3570K @ 4.7 GHz, similar temps.

With Intel's Tuning Plan warranty, you can burn a bad clocker up, and get a decent chip back. 4.7 GHz is nothing. Sent you a PM ,BTW. .

We are adding a decent amount more voltage to get these gains, too. It's kinda cool that Intel has made these CPUs are tough as they are, and that they take the abuse we are all dishing out to them, and that Intel will even warranty that, for the cost of 12 beer here. ![]() I kinda wish people would buy that warranty, and push harder.

I will push mine to 5.0GHz... I only need H220. H100 is weak for that...
4.5GHz - 1.162V ![]() I leave here voltage on offset in BIOS on 1.300V and board push more Next time I will tip Offset on 25% that would be much less temps... but like I say next testing after new cooler... My chip is close to Sandy Bridge but much hotter. About 10-15C hotter. 4.8GHz - 1.300V push to 1.320V in Windows ![]() I expect 5.0GHz with about 1.400-1.425V with Swiftech H220 and same temps like H100 on 4.8GHz, max 95C. I will install plus two more fans for push-pull and try than... I will melt that Intel grace crap inside... I will disintegrate... During all this test motherboard mosfet and VRM are not even hot on touch, maybe 40C. Last edited by Vlada011; Jan 18, 2013 at 11:41 PM. |
