Ivy memory, Ivy cpu, sandy board?
I was just curious can P67 boards run the high speed memory speeds with ivy cpus just the same as with a Z77 board or can the chipset not handle it?

I never saw 2400 reached when people were trying with sandy, and I've not seen many running Ivy in P67. Would be nice to know if it worked.

My 2400 TridentX RAM did not run above 1800 at a P67 Asrock board, and besides that I had stange lockups after changing from 1600 RAM to 2400, and PCI Express 3.0 x16 would not run or be available either.

PCI E 3.0 is only available on Z77 or x79 with an Ivybridge Processor in the socket. P67, Z68 are not PCI E 3.0 Capable. Certain Memory controllers and Ram Timings and Voltages have to be adjusted along side the FSB (W/E they call it now).

This fact is why there was all this brouhaha many moons ago..because some boards only do that x8 to a single slot, but were advertising it like you'd get the full x16, or to all slots. Some P67/Z68 boards will do PCIe 3.0 to all slots, like the Gigabyte G1.Sniper2, or MSI Z68A-GD65, or ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3. The ASUS board is a stickler, since there are two versions, one that will do PCIE 3.0 to all slots, and one that will only do it @ x8 top main slot.

This has been confirmed by testing, and I did also confirm with board makers here on the forum, even. CHeck out the ASUS Sabertooth AM3+ PCIe 3.0 news item, where myself and an MSI rep who put out the media about boards not supporting it, clear the air.
the questionable boards will do PCIe 3.0 x8 in top slot. all boards that are x16/x4, with no bridges, will do PCIe 3.0 x16, no problem. It's the switches used to shift the PCIe lanes to the other slots that cause issues. I highlighted these switches in my reviews at the time because of it. Other reviewers simply didn't even talk about it.
