AMD Catalyst Uninstall Utility

Yes, it's real: LINK REMOVED UNTIL FIXED

Don't bother if you are using Windows 8. Not recommended right due to issues.

May all of your driver reinstalls be clean.
Was there a problem with uninstalls before? I haven't had a problem with driver uninstalling from the control panel for driver upgrades for a while.

With both AMD and Nvidia you can get a few issues (rarely) when you install new drivers. Usually because old remnants get in the way of optimum operations.

Like you though, I've never had issues (to my knowledge!) and i usually just install over old drivers. Maybe I'll use this with the next Catalyst release...

Just used this, does not uninstall the CAP profiles, in case anybody is like me and re-installs those with drivers too.

Nice. I too haven't had any problems in the past but this little program can't hurt either. I will try it out this weekend.

I had posted something to the effect that even Driver Sweeper didn't uninstall it, but edited it out because I had forgotten that I put the Far Cry 3 CAP 2 profile on another partition when I installed it. Thus I assumed it didn't see it because it probably only checks the primary,..."C:" drive.

Please clarify, are you saying it didn't even remove the CAP profile from the C: drive? If so, that would really suck. Driver Sweeper should if it's installed on the C: drive because the CAP profiles go in an AMD shell folder just like the drivers, and DS looks for anything in that folder.

I have to say, I remain skeptical about this tool. Last time I recall using ATI's uninstall utility, it never worked worth a damn. I believe it was made by Ray Adams, the same guy that made ATI Tray Tools. I worry things are going to get even worse after all the graphics engineering layoffs and the big lawsuit AMD is embroiled in currently.

This does a proper job of cleaning out BETAs?
Although I don't think there is any difference between the file locations of BETAs and WHQLs.

Yeah it wasn't like the old GF3/4 days when I just reinstalled windows2000 and the lot just to avoid driver issues and ran some driver sweeper thing to scrub the harddrive for upgrades. Now uninstalls works fine and install-overs(w/o uninstalls) for upgrades seem to work ok for radeon drivers. Ironic that when hardly got problems with leftover drivers files, we get this fine utility.

After running this utility, I went into the Programs and Features where I used to uninstall drivers, and still saw the Application Profiles listed there. I got no errors running that install, so my best guess is it does not touch the CAPs.

Interesting. Though like others said I have never had an issue with a regular uninstall. Or an upgrade right on top, for that matter. I guess more useful as a troubleshooting tool or if you are moving to an Nvidia card or something.

Many times when switching cards, data left over from CCC clock settings can leave system non-bootable, for example, going from 6- or 7-series to 4-series, 4-series gets memory settings in CCC that are far too high, and the card will artifact as soon as the driver loads, but it's just those settings causing the issue.

So, no, not just for swapping to Nvidia.. but when swapping cards in general. Also, swapping BIOS is the same as swapping cards, in many instances(different device IDs).

Of course, this tool doesn't remove that data, so...yeah..it's usefulness is really questionable to me. It only takes me about 30 seconds to edit registry and delete the few folders required anyway. This tool will get rid of other stuff as well within the OS folders...but those files have never proven to be an issue for me personally...they must have been an issue for someone else, though.
