Synology's warranties vary. For the 4 bay units, it's 2 years, but for their 5 bay units, which would be a better comparison to this Asustor, they get 3 years.

I would agree with your assessment, the Asustor's have some potential, but they could use some minor tweaking. Frankly I wouldn't recommend one right now, just as I would say to try to not get a new car in it's first year, they'll have things to shake out and improve. They might want to see if they can lower the price some more just to try to make a bigger dent in the market.

Ok seriosly you can build a ivy bridge mini itx computer with that money.
